>>Besides, I think many people are becoming more and more aware of the very real costs of the current "immoral atmosphere".<<

Yeah right. That’s why we have more states looking at legalizing same sex marriage. That’s why we have schools teaching tolerance for gays and transgender. That’s why church groups are being forced to pay for abortions and contraception against their conscience. Anyone who thinks the majority of citizens in this country are going to suddenly turn back to the attitudes and morality of the 50s is delusional. Santorum thinks government control is the answer. Newt has always worked for local control and until we get back to more local control no change in the moral decline of this country will happen. The local moral “attitude” that you see is being overwhelmed by totalitarian control in DC and Santorum will not change that to the extent that Gingrich will.

Those are among the many reasons for a backlash.

“Anyone who thinks the majority of citizens in this country are going to suddenly turn back to the attitudes and morality of the 50s is delusional.”

That is called a ‘red herring’.

“The local moral “attitude” that you see is being overwhelmed by totalitarian control in DC and Santorum will not change that to the extent that Gingrich will.”

I guess you meant to say that “Gingrich would if by some miracle he were to win the election”...
