Palin would be splitting the vote because Bachman and Palin both appeal to the same social conservative demographic. Why would Palin be the vote splitter? Because Bachmann got into the race *early*?
Bachmann has no claim on voters and no guarantee that Palin supporters would support her were Palin not a consideration.

Palin has just as much right to run as Bachmann and a Palin can actually beat Obama.
But, if you’re worried about the vote split, convince Bachmann-Rollins to drop out of the race, now.

Except that Palin has already made in clear in an interview that she does not believe the right people are in the race.
