Despite President Barack Obama’s vow to veto the Cut, Cap and Balance bill passed by the House of Representatives, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said he would bet a “Porterhouse steak” that the president would sign the legislation if it arrived at his desk.

Isn't it wonderful that a decision that could, quite literally, decide the fate of the entire country is reduced down to a ~$20 bet between country clubbers? Forget all of that "lives, fortunes and sacred honor" stuff. In fact, let's just forget the steak and say that whoever screws the country up the worst has to shave his eyebrows.

Has Coburn gone dotty in his old age?
I thought he was on board with the Gang of Six McConnell plan and opposed to anything from the House...” <<<<

Coburn backs Cut Cap & Balance, and NOT the McConnell cave-in plan. Coburn also backs his own 9 Trillion-Cuts plan which he took back to the “gang of six”. He supports the gang where it supports a start on his 9 Tillion plan.

He supports EVERYTHING, but not McConnell.

Just called FL Senator Bill Nelson's Washington office and nicely but very firmly let them know that he needs to follow the wishes of the 66% of American people (poll just released today) who want Cut Cap and Balance passed. Explained to the staffer that it's the only plan that will get through the House and the American people want it done, and Senator Nelson needs to vote for it in spite of Obama's veto threat.

Had no problems getting through and the guy on the other end took down my zip code and said he's pass the message along.

Everyone needs to do the same with your Senators. If you can't get through on the main Congress phone line, Google your Senator and find the direct line number for him/her in Washington, or their local offices if you can't get through in DC.

Don't let up, regardless of how "hopeless" anyone might say it is.

Coburn figures if he keeps running in circles and kicks up enough dust, we won't be able to tell exactly where he stands :^)

Two days ago....Coburn rejoins Gang of Six, backs $3.7T deficit reduction plan

Before the ink was even dry on his $9 trillion deficit-reduction plan, Sen. Tom Coburn on Tuesday reunited with his mates in the bipartisan Gang of Six and endorsed a $3.7 trillion plan that quickly earned praise from President Barack Obama.

He said the plan wouldn't solve the nation's debt problems but would create “the way forward to where we can solve our problems.”

It also includes $80 billion in defense cuts, for which Coburn has lobbied. You can't deny that. I don't know where he is at, and don't trust him anymore.

I’ll bet a porterhouse steak that the Greenbay Packers will beat Central Arkansas Junior College IF they were to play each other.

If the House holds firm, the Senate Democrats will have no other option and Obama will have not other choice but to sign it.

It is a sign that the U.S. Government can't pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. ... Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here'. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."
