Time to default, cutting spending to raise the debt ceiling only allows more spending, and probably on those new programs that are so fun to announce.

I hope Cantor told him to go to hell. That’s what I would have done.

"And he said to me, `Eric, don't call my bluff,'" He said, `I'm going to the American people with this."

He must think we live in a parliamentary democracy where the Prime Minister can call a snap election. I hate to tell him, we live in a Republic and the people spoke in November 2010 and it's his responsibility to deal with the Representatives they elected. If he wants to "take it too the American people" he's free to during next fall's election, but that's still 16 months from now, until that time he's stuck with the current congress.

My reply would have been more biting.

Mr. President, you forgot something. We won.

And when the TV networks all put him on the air the cry for the 100th time then the republicans had better be demanding equal time.

"Don't call my bluff" by passing a short-term debt limit increase he has threatened to veto.

That's an invitation if I have ever heard one...

The house should pass three bills then recess.

Bill 1: Establishing priorities for payments under a borrow no more scenario. Required Debt and capital service first, military paychecks second, SS third, etc. Title this bill the "Federal Spending Priorities Bill."

Bill 2: Debt ceiling increase to cover the next 45 days with 2X in cuts that occur over the next 12 months. Title this bill the "Debt Crisis Relief Bill."

Bill 3: A bill that increases the the debt limit to wherever it needs to be to get into mid 2013 but includes 2X the cuts for every dollar of new debt allowed. 50% of those cuts must be realized in two years, the rest in the next two years. Title this bill the "American Solvency Bill."

Pass them, recess, and walk away. Keep a couple strong willed people in DC to repeat over and over again - we passed three bills - the dem senate and president can pick which one they want to avert a crisis. If they choose not to pick one - the consequences are on them. We would prefer to have a short term extension, with real spending cut conditions, so that we can get people negotiating in good faith. Otherwise - we have done our job and would be happy to consider any proposals the Presdent wants to provide to us and the American people transparently. Until then, we are done negotiating.

Time for hardballl.

If we had two GOP leaders who had balls and spines, they would most certainly call his bluff....I know damn well I would, even going to the extent to call his bluff as he walked out on the meeting that was held this afternoon. Hell, we had two GOP leaders who had balls and spines, I’d call his bluff right on national television.... =.=

Another example of Obama’s shallow intelligence. I can see Russia from the top of the pile of crap that is spewed by this “most intelligent ever” pol.

zer0 must be feeling like i did, right after the vote in the middle of the night to pass that national health care plan. I was sick, and pissed.

Well, We all did something about it, tea parties, millions of us, a movement. This is no bluff. We are taking our country back. This is our time. This is about our future, our countrys future. These are the people we put up to Stand against marxist, liberal, leftest, democrats. It’s now or forever it will be over. There is just no place to start over. We must win, like we had to win and did win over similar people not that long ago.
