“I sent him a short note expressing my support for him and letting him know, we still need him to fight for us.

I told him to try not to take things too hard. After I sent it, I realized that was an especially unfortunate choice of words on my part. I hope his staff won’t end up interpreting it as a sarcastic letter or trying to make fun of the situation. It’s not my fault that something like 75% of the English language consists of words that can be used as double entendres.

I know we are all saddened and disappointed. Many are angry. But I hope we will remember that this is a man who has spent many years trying to sweep back the tide of Republican evil. Maybe we owe him something for that, in spite of the dumb mistakes he’s made.”
