Frank Luntz Focus Group Picks Winner of First GOP Debate!
Youtube ^ | 5/5/11 | Luntz Focus Group

Wow, this is interesting. A focus group of SC Republican primary voters came in with only 1 supporting Cain, and left with the majority supporting Cain.

What is interesting is WHY they changed their vote. Also interesting is their feelings about the other potential candidates not showing up.

As a long time supporter of Mr. Cain (campaigned for him during his ‘04 Senate run) I can honestly say that this doesn’t surprise me one bit.

He no longer an “unknown”. It is easy to know who he is, read his books, read his commentaries, listen to his interviews, podcasts of his shows. There is a record of where Herman stands on every issue going back a long, long time.

WE would do that, but the average, every day voter would not go that far. (People voted for Oboma because he looked good on a t-shirt for gosh sakes.)
There is still time for him to make himself known, though, but he'll need some serious help.
Don't get me wrong. Personally, I like the guy.

Obama has ruined the chance of any blacks winning the presidency for the foreseeable future.

Maybe. Maybe not. Herman Cain doesn't strike me as the type of guy who would go to great lengths to hide his record. He was also well on his way to becoming successful long before affirmative action kicked in.

Cain is about 20 years older than ObaMao. Nothing in his past even suggests he was ever handed anything due to affirmative action. Everything in ObaMao's past points to everything being handed to him.

I’ve had 3 strangers just this week come up to me asking me where I got my Herman Cain bumper sticker. I sat in a coffee shop the other day and ladies next to me were talking about Cain.

And that was before the debates.

He has a platform ready to roll out as soon as he formally announces and people won’t have to look up any of this information. However, your point was about voting history, my response was about his history.

Nice! And that would take care of the “no foreign policy” criticism, although I would rather see Cain delegating it any day rather than Bambi. Bambi’s idea of delegating, having no real world experience himself, is to reward an Ivy League crony with no real world experience, with a title.

My point had nothing to do with Cain's qualifications.

I merely pointed out that Obama has poisoned the well so completely that many, many voters across the fruited plain will simply not vote for another black guy to succeed him. They're sick of the "you're a racist" politics....and Cain could be the Apostle Paul and they wouldn't vote for him, unfortunately.

Thanks, Obama for the many evil gifts you will have bequeathed to us after we dump you.

Leni

I kind of wish it had been a round table where every candidate had been asked the same question so that we could compare answers, but I have to say that Herman Cain is impressive.

Oh hell, no one suggested that. Don’t pretend that knowledge of the world situation isn’t important to this job. Look at the idiot in the WH now. It DOES matter.

"No serious candidates were there and it was way premature to hold this debate."

Very profound statement.

Let me guess...in your opinion the only serious candidate is Palin?

And, guessing again, the timing for the debate would have been perfect had Palin been there?

Just guessing....how'd I do?

Congrats.

"...proved yourself both a jerk and an idiot."

Thanks for the high marks, always nice to know when you hit an exposed nerve.

But, to be fair, double marks are not acceptable. Gotta choose just one....jerk or idiot.

Either one is gratefully accepted, I've worked nearly 70 years to get such platitudes.

Hah!

I’m at a loss to understand the vitriole directed at me over a simple statement that I thought the debate was premature and didn’t include many of the better known and more likely candidates who will surely declare in a few months.

I honestly wasn’t thinking about Sarah in this regard. I hope she gets in the race but I don’t know.

This debate was so low profile that I totally forgot it and I think most people did also. I would have tivo’d it had I remembered and, after reading this thread and hearing Rush I wish I had.

What did you and some other person get so angry about my post? Yes, my first preference is Sarah and Ryan. Sarah because I like everything about her and I think she has the best chance to ignite the conservatives and win. Ryan because although one may nitpick his plan, at least he has one and I like what I’ve heard of it.

It just seemed like such a hostile and sarcastic over-reaction on your part that I’m afraid I reacted in kind.

I apologize ... if you will. We all want a conservative who will beat Obama. If Cain is nominated, I’ll certainly vote for him.
