I don't understand Obama's talk about a scholarship, because, as I recall, Obama made a big thing during the 2008 presidential campaign about how he and his wife had recently paid off their college loans.

I wonder if Obama now wishes that he had not mentioned his "scholarship" during his recent speech, because his "scholarship" remark seems to have raised more questions about how Hawaii high school graduate Obama was able to afford to attend first Occidental in California and then Columbia in New York City.

I hope someone in the news media asks Obama what he meant by his "scholarship" remark.

You could be right. I would still like to see the news media put pressure on Obama to clarify his "scholarship" remark, that is, I would like to know if Obama was referring to his time at Occidental in California, or to his time at Columbia in New York City, or to his time at Harvard when Obama was in law school.

I would also like to know who gave Obama his scholarship: Was it the college that he was attending, or was it a private person who gave Obama his scholarship?

Are "scholarship" and college loan records part of the public record? Or, are they both protected by privacy laws? Thanks.
