Was Glenn Beck Ousted From Fox by the Saudis?
diana west.net ^ | April 6, 2011 | Diana West

As a longtime News Corp.-watcher, Prince-Talal-watcher, Talal-News-Corp-watcher, I'm not saying, I'm just saying:

Wednesday, March 30, 2011: James Murdoch, youngest son of Rupert Murdoch, "cemented his position as his father's eventual heir to run the entertainment conglomerate when he was elevated this week to the No. 3 position in the company's executive ranks." To help things set better, he's moving from London to New York.

April 4, 2011: Bill O'Reilly says Pastor Terry Jones "has blood on his hands" after Jones burns a copy of the Koran in Florida and Muslims in Afghanistan murder people.

April 4, 2011: To discuss the mayhem and murder that was the Afghan Muslim response to the burning of a copy of the Koran in Florida, Sean Hannity scheduled Zuhdi Jasser, whose "private" sharia is so irrelevant to classical Islam that his commentary is endlessly confusing at best, and Ahmed Bedier, longtime spokesmodel for a constellation of organization related and linked to such jihad groups as Hamas and Hezbollah,

April 6, 2011: Fox News and Glenn Beck agree to "divorce."

What connects these disparate incidents? Beside a short time-frame, I don't know. I do know James Murdoch is known for his trash talk about Israel (sez the Palestinians "were kicked out of their f— homes and had nowhere to f— live"), his green enthusiasms (News Corp. is the first entertainment conglom to be "carbon neutral") and for being a former hip hop impressario (wow; not my dream date). The 38-year-old is also very, very close to 56-year-old Prince Talal, and was Talal's choice to succeed Murdoch (chalk one up for Talal).

Not one to let politics to get in the way of profits, I am sure, it is also the case that as a Talal-pal (not to mention everything else), James is likely to keep certain things out of the way of Fox politics. I would imagine that Hannity's recent maiden voyages into "sharia" talk (bet that's all over with) and Beck's ongoing explorations of sharia and Islam don't fit his bill. That stuff's been buttoned up for ten years now on Fox; no reason to spoil a good brand now with free inquiry into the ideology that drives our mortal enemies....

1. Beck had really good ratings... but nobody was advertizing. It doesn't matter if you're the number one show on TV if you can only get Gold companys to sponsor you. THE BOYCOTTS WORKED

2. FOX has drifted to left. They are not a conservative network.

2. Al-Waleed bin Talal is the number two shareholder of New Corp. Do the math.

Although his research and putting forth all of the ties and hidden facts about the democrat party and leftists in general is what I liked about listening to him; I have to say that over the last year he has moved way to far from the Constitutional/political aspects into a series of intense religious screeds

I have to agree...I liked the constitutional aspects of his programing.. but it has become a mouth piece for Mormonism ... and listening to some of the "revival " talk just became too much

"I take that to mean the Dummy boycott worked then."

I'm sure it has. In yesterday's ratings release, Beck barely squeaked by the FNC show that follows him (Special Report), but he did crush his period's competition. However, I'm sure that Bret Baeir's program generates a multiple of Beck's ad-rev. So, if FNC replaces Beck with someone less controversial, and as a consequence more palatable to big-dollar advertisers (read: not Pet-Meds), FNC will be financially much better off - and that's not even taking into account Beck's salary, from what I understand was more than Greta's.

Absolutely ridiculous. Whatever Beck’s ratings were or weren’t, the fact of the matter is he couldn’t get any sponsors better than Goldline and PetMeds. For Fox, it was a simple business decision.

Uh, are you aware that Glenn Beck makes just $2 mil, far less than O'Reilly, Hannity or even Shep Smith. And he has the highest % ratings per time slot audience - even now - than any show on cable...ANY show, even on TLC and Bravo. I myself have advertised on Beck's show 6 months ago. And based on the ad rates and a count I did, I 3estimate Fox's yearly revenue for his show is above $25 million. They don't ever promote it. They make a handsome profit on it.

But what my sources have told me is that Beck is HATED at Fox. Despised. What they really can't stand is how much money he makes OUTSIDE of Fox - far more than O'Reilly. He made a staggering $33 million in 2010 OUTSIDE Fox. The brass doesn't like it. And they hated his 8/28 and how he used his show to promote what they saw as his own self-promotion that didn't help the network. Ailes is on RECORD confirming that sentiment, saying Beck owes his wealth to Fox.

Bin Talal is on record as bragging that he got FoxNews to stop using the chyron term "Muslim Riots" with a single phone call to Ailes during the Paris MUSLIM riots 3 years ago. And James Murdoch is a notorious dhimmi and Israel-hater. Beck says to "pray for Israel" every week. This chick is definitely on to something.

Old Deck Hand is a lefty. He is an anti-birther. Saudi Arabia through their proxy Al Waleed is the largest shareholder in News Corp. (Fox).

People have no clue about satellite access whihc is ALL that matters. Murdoch and the other 5 networks only care about sat access to Asia and the middle east. America’s standard of living is dropping rapidly.

Your choice is 300 million going broke or 2 billion in Islamic countries (including Indonesia) with rapidly growing wealth and Asia (including China) with 3 billion with a rapidly improving standard of living.

Stupid sheep sold out once again and they have no clue what is going on. It’s All Obama TV folks.

That reminds me, what became of that conservative network that Grammer was spearheading?

It does appear that by ousting Beck the left has won another victory. Perhaps somebody who is computer literate could locate the trend of Beck’s advertising revenues over the last few years?

Evil is afoote' at FOX... Beck has exposed some nasty going ons.. He has uncover some smelly stuff..I was wondering how long he would get away with it.. Now we know... Cloward-Piven is alive and real.. And the FBI is eating donuts..

Good on Beck and whatever he does before his eventual jailing.. as a political detainee.. Few seem to care, so far.. but I do..

Well that's one take. Let's look at all of the major theories:

Or, maybe he was just intimidated by Alex Jones calling him out: Jones: Beck a fruad, effiminate weasel, the fairy

Ah, are you aware that his two main sponsors are Goldline and PetMeds. I don't care if Beck is getting a billion people an hour, no one, and I mean no one, wants to pay to advertise on his show.

Cavuto and Baier get all the auto manufacturers, IBM, Microsoft, etc.. - big name after big name, but Beck gets PetMeds.

Fox is a business FIRST. They owe it to their shareholders to maximize profits. Period.

Hey, dumb-ass. If you're going to make a snarky remark about someone, you're suppose to ping them.

Now, keep that in mind as you continue to post from your Mama's basement.

Their salary is identical - $2 mil. O'Reilly makes over $10 mil, yet only has 30% more viewers than Beck with an time slot viewing public twice as large

I'm not sure whats going on. Beck did a poor job explaining why he's leaving and what he would be doing next - choosing to use metaphors, like Paul River had to get off his horse sometime and join the fight. He appeared on O’Reilly who said Beck would explain what he would be doing next on his show, and again Beck failed to provide a solid answer.

It is still $10k per 30 second slot. Do the math. He only makes $2 mil per year. The prior show in that slot was a ratings disaster.

It's not the number of viewers you get, but the amount of revenue you generate.

The last several years, Judge Judy routinely crushes Oprah in the ratings. Yet, Oprah is a billionaire, many times over, and Judge Judy isn't. Why is that? Because advertisers will pay MUCh more for a viewer of Oprah's program than they will for a viewer of Judge Judy's program.

The problem is the boycott worked.

Soros was able to use his front groups like Media Matter, Color for Change, etc to drive all the high dollar sponsors of of Beck's show.

He was only left with Goldline.

When he started mentioning the Muslim riots in the middle east that probably sealed it.

Prince Al Waleed. Fox is a Saudi outfit but so is TW/CNN and Disney/ABC. Al Waleed is the #2 shareholder in Disney and prety much bailed out Euro Disney.

Beck’s radio show is #3 in country. He is too wishy washy and erratic for me. I laugh at idiots who think Fox News in any way is your friend. The elites throw you a bone to think you have some freedom.

Beck was forced to drink the anti-birther Kool Aide with O Reilly (gladly drank it), Ingraham, Coulter, Medved, Hewitt, Boortz and a few others. They came out making fun of birthers on almost the same day. If you were in their place you could just say - no I don’t agree. Instead they called birthers crazy.

These people are media puppets. Rush and probably Savage arfe the only ones who can do or say what they want.

Whatever it is, it will be much more with someone else. In business, it's just not about making money, it's about maximizing profits.

FYI, many many many have come here, into Conservative-land — den of the lion so-to-speak — to try and sow suspicion and dissent against the one and only news media outlet that scares the bejeezus out of the progresso-socialists of this country. The more Fox News succeeds in growing its power-base and making fundamental transformation in the msm status quo stranglehold on public airways and discourse, the more its enemies will be dispatched to sow suspicion and dissent in its power-base ranks. Eyes wide shut .... nevermore!
