Let There be Light!

One of the most egregious and unconstitutional acts of the Pelosi congress was the passage of the "Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007".  This bill, despite its Orwellian name, will actually ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs by 2014.  This law needs to be repealed immediately.  It must be one of the most pressing priorities for the new GOP controlled House.  If the Democrats Senate and Obama attempt to oppose its repeal, let us hang it around their necks in 2012.

Thankfully, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann has once again taken the lead by introducing H.R. 849, "The Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act".  This bill would repeal the provisions of the 2007 energy bill that set energy-efficiency standards for incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and labeling standards.

This is an issue that is good policy and good politics for Republicans.  While there are many echo freaks out there, they are far from a majority of the nation.  Incandescent light bulbs are also a lot cheaper than those curly mercury bulbs and most people will not acquiesce to higher costs for such a mundane item.  Let's defeat yet another regressive act of the progressives.

Call your House and Senate members and ask them to co-sponsor HR 849 and let there be light!

“The Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act”

It is a horrific shame that we actually need an act of Congress to have light bulb freedom. I laugh when I hear somebody say “well it’s a free country”. When I was a kid it was pretty free. Not so much these days.

How many tons of mercury will now be placed into dumps when every bulb is a “green” bulb? The weirdest part of this is that if the curly, mercury filled light were the standard, it would have been banned by the EPA.

Yep, and now how many curly, mercury filled bulbs will get thrown out because of the advances of LED lights?

It would have been banned only had GE not been involved on manufacturing them. Follow the money!

Every other time I go to Wally World I pick up a pack of 60 watt and 100 watt light bulbs.

Well there goes my fiendish plan to hoard incandescent light bulbs and sell them for $1 a piece in 2015. I would have been a MILLIONAIRE!!!!

Of course, with impending inflation, a gallon of gas will be $7 and a loaf of bread will be about the same. So, I can give solace to myself all I would have had with my MILLIONS would be about 4 months of operating expenses.

All our light bulbs are LED. They’re great.

How do you get them to have a soft light?

Can you tell me where you find ones that put forth an equivalent light to a incandescent?

I have been looking for ones to replace my filament bulbs for the multiple dimmers my house was built with. (there must have been a sale)

There are LED’s that come in warm and cool colors....
much like fluorescents.

When the resident electrician gets home I’ll ask. Certain bulbs work with step dimmers, but not dial dimmers.

Glad someone else is buying them. I now have a case of 100’s, 75’s and 60’s plus several spares for each of the other kinds of lights in my house. Figure my stash should last for the rest of my lifetime unless they are confiscated by the light bulb police. If not, the house will be dark as I refuse to buy that other crappy kind.

it would have been banned by the EPA.

Assuming that they still care about the environment. They look to me to be more of a hatchet to use against the Koch brothers and others who dare to oppose the administration.

The person who knows these things says to go to any home improvement store and ask for an A19 LED lightbulb. Some are step-dimmer compatible.
