I lived in Tahoe for a few years, and I remember the snow falling at the rate of a foot an hour several times.

I lived at Incline Village I think around 1989 and then moved to S. Shore, worked for Heavenly as a snocat mechanic at the upper mountain shop at I think 8400’, then I worked on the Tahoe Queen as the head engineer.

I remember almost 5’ of snowfall there at Ski Run, what is weird was that we would get snow every month of the year, I would see groups of bikers and tourists driving through a summer snow dump, and Caltrans able to remove several feet of snow on Hiway 50 in just a couple of hours.

The snow there is very very wet at lake level, just a couple of inches and people get stuck. Tire chains and chain installers are pretty busy when it snows.
