A proper dog will attack an surprise intruder before you can even get out of the chair, without regard to its own safety, giving you enough time to get the 12 gauge.

I was going through the terrible “empty nest” blues recently. A friend of a friend contacted me about taking a 9 year old “rescued dog” (miniature schnauzer named “Bevo”) I did and am so glad. He’s my little side kick and whines terribly when I’m out of his eyesight. I’m already VERY attached, although I do have to remind myself he’s just a dog and not my kiddo! Oh, and who says dogs don’t need designer clothes??? I’ve officially been banned by Mr. Grumpybutt from shopping at Petco alone LOL

My dog taught me how to retain the good spot on the couch or take up most of the bed by going completely limp :).

When I put Ben down this past May I said no more dogs.. I found it's more heartache not having a dog in my life.. Here is Bobby.. my Border Collie / Sheltie mix puppy. He's 5 months now and an absolute joy! :) Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Lock your dog and spouse in the trunk for an hour. When you open the trunk, which one is happy to see you? ‘nuff said, “bump” for the dog!

I can’t imagine life without a dog. The only real unconditional love there is in this world.

I just read a great book that dog lovers should read. The Art Of Racing In The Rain. In this book, now out in paperback, the dog is the one doing the talking in his head. The dogs owner is a race car driver and I have no interest in car racing but it doesn't spoil the book at all.
Delightful book!

I learned something new about my dog this weekend. She was five when I got her (shelter) and demands constant attention. Until I started knitting a pair of socks this weekend. Apparently she has seen knitting before, and knows not to approach. She lay down quietly by my feet and didn’t ask for attention except when I took breaks to rest my hands. As soon as I put the work down, she was right there, but when I picked it up again, she lay back down.

If you are a dog lover/owner, you must read A Dog's Life by Peter Mayle. Absolutely hilarious. Read the customer reviews.
