All periodicals (newspapers, magazines, etc.) have two "holes" ~ the "news hole" and the "business hole".

The news hole is concerned with the sins of others. The business hole has circulation records that include the names and addresses of all their subscribers, whether now or in the past, and derivative information related thereto. That can be age, income, ownership of automobiles, response to "newspaper coupons", and a wide variety of things you thought only grocery stores cared about.

If you think anybody in the "news hole" was going to rat out anybody in the "business hole" for prying into people's lives and selling their identities to thieves, you were certainly wront.
