In a surprising, yet reassuring turn of events, Pope Benedict XIV, the head of the Catholic Church has announced that he is willing to excommunicate any and all Catholic Priests who have been rightfully accused of pedophilia while in service to the Catholic Church.
"It is my sworn duty to uphold the tenants of the faith which rest securely on the never changing, holy scripture, which speaks succinctly, yet passionately, against sexual sin within the body of Christ." Pope Benedict wrote in a letter addressed to "Fellow Catholics, Christians, and citizens of this great planet." ...

Good for him
Wha?!? I’m quite clear that the Holy Father would not use the words “tenants of the faith”.
Why does this have to be “surprising,” coming from him?
How long did it take the Catholic church to arrive at this?
“Too Late the Phalarpope”
2) This article appears to be some moron's idea of a sick joke.
It’s about time.
This author is making things up.
Benedict has been very aggressive about purging the filth from the Church. The militant fags in the media hate him for it.
Good thing he didn’t say “April Fools!” after this.
Seriously though, shouldn’t excommunication of pedo priests and turning them into law enforcement, have been part of the way to have dealt with this all along? I’m glad to see Benedict seems to get that not doing this all along is a big deal, hopefully he follows through on this and makes it more than just words.
The fact the RCC has a priest shortage doesn’t justify protecting and shuffling around these guys who never should have been priests in the first place, who shouldn’t be involved in ANY kind of sex after taking celibacy vows.
Sadly, just the opposite...
Pope tight-lipped on sex abuse scandal

Ignoring the pleas of the victims of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy, Pope Benedict XVI used Chrism Mass celebrations to focus on abortion instead of the ever-widening scandal.
This is while abuse victims, the number of whom is increasing daily, have asked the Vatican to clearly address the issue.
The Pope has only written a letter to the Irish faithful, which many of the Church’s followers in Ireland described as disappointing.
Pope Benedict XVI seemed to hint against pursuing legal action in the pedophile priest scandal by recalling Jesus’ teachings to turn the other cheek.
The Pope has no control over what the 'legal authories' choose to do. He can pursue action against any priest, given sufficient proof of wrongdoing, regardless of whether or not that priest is arrested and convicted in a court of law.

What? The Pope doesn't jump through hoops for the fags that run the New York Times????? Quelle horreur!!!
I think, perhaps, your quote has revealed the NYT and other leftist media's true agenda. It's sad that supposed conservatives are supporting their agenda.
I am guessing he was misquoted.
What he ACTUALLY said was probably: "It is my sworn duty to uphold the TENETS of the faith..."
At any rate, I am not aware of anyone who RENTS their faith.
The Lavender Mafia at the NYT doesn’t disagree with sex with young boys. It is the Pope calling them “filth” that offends them.
That’s funny! just a typo
All the attacks on the Pope and church...are a consequence of the harm perverts have done. The Pope and Bishops should have been must less forgiving and trusting and tolerant of these animals and turned them over to the police to begin with.
However, every day in this country Americans - children and adults - are robbed, raped and murdered by illegal aliens. The people in charge across the Nation know it. They do nothing about it. They even work to abet the actors. The volume of abetted abuse of innocent Americans can not be compared to the church.
846 years at minimum has passed since the Constitutions at Clarendon. It remains to be seen whether the Pope will "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's" and render himself subject to civil authority without asserting soverign immunity.

Good for him. Took too long ... a lot less damage would’ve been done if they had been excommunicated a long time ago. But, it is a good thing that these perverts are being dealt with.
