These townhalls have shown one thing:
The people know more about what the Congress is trying to pass than the Congresspersons do.
Many of the people are more knowledgable than the Congresspersons, because most of the Congresspersons have not idea what the various versions of the bill contain.

They have also shown that the people that normally go about their business and may have an opinion, but don't get actively involved are angry and they are rising up. They should have risen up last November, but better late than never. I think we stand a decent chance of derailing this despot in 2010 and 2012 if we can keep the momentum going.

Yep. Lots of them don’t give a hoot about politics, but suddenly some idiot marxist demagogues starts screwing around with the health care plans they’re perfectly satisfied with, and they start to care a little bit.

Rush Limbaugh did a call-in to Beck's FoxNews program Thursday. He made an important observation, too.
That observation was that most of the liberal 'troublemakers' at the town halls and other venues are paid participants, whereas the others are, as you say, private citizens showing up to express their interest and views from all politican party affiliations.
