UPDATE 18. 1146AM US ET (816PM Local). Lots of stories about violence. Claims that three plane loads of Hezbullah were flown in. Police shooting and refusing to shoot - those shooting aiming at legs, and removing victim in vans. Claims of boiling water and acid (former seems inefficient) being dropped from helicopters. Demonstrators burned a building. IRG not allowing the squares to be used, so demonstrators are in the streets.

A new, freer Iranian government will likely result in more economic growth than the Cleric run government. Even with the fall of the Cleric government, Iran is going to remain highly Muslim, and thus a likely participant in the Grand Jihad ~50 years from now. In the shorter term, Mousavi has stated he will continue Iran’s nuclear program. Isn’t it foolish to then hope for the fall of Ahmadinejad and the Clerics?
I hope Ahmadinejad remains in power and continues to listen to his buddy Hugo Chavez. I also hope Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities get bombed soon.
He already did everything he could...he voted "present".

But does a “god” have to take sides? I mean, he is above all of this right?
I am afraid to think of the good that would come from the elimination of the Islamic Council. Terrorisim will have their banks shut down. There would be a real chance for peace.
