Congresswoman Questions Al Gore on His Cap-and-Trade Investments (video)

I love this clip. Al Gore does a great Al Gore impersonation, as he gets all huffy when asked by Congresswoman Blackburn about how much he expects to make off the cap-and-trade global warming scheme that Obama's busy pushing through. I particularly like how he huffs and puffs into the microphone so we all know just how offended he is by the fact that ANYONE would dare question his motives in supporting regulation that essentially pays off all of his investments in one big swoop.

"It's not about greed," Al Gore says. And we can tell by how outraged he is that that's the truth.

The program basically sets limits on carbon emissions (caps) for every industry. This cap acts as an ‘allotment’, so that businesses that use less than their cap can sell (trade) that amount to businesses who want/need to use more than their allotment. Businesses like Algore’s then act as clearinghouses for the exchange of the carbon allotments and they take a percentage of every transaction, much like a credit card company does. Hope that explains it.

I also wonder (since this wasn’t clarified) whether Algore takes a salary for administering the non-profit that he ‘donates’ all of his global warming money to? If so, how much? He could easily be giving himself a Wall Street-sized salary with full benefits (including company cars, airplanes, travel expenses, entertainment, health and dental, severance and a retirement package) and still have the company keep it’s ‘non-profit’ status since all of the above would become an operating expense. It’s a common game that the big-boys play.

Cap and trade is a fine on manufacturing. Supposedly, some of the fine money will be distributed to the poor to help them pay their energy bills. Some of the fine money (supposedly) will be given to underdeveloped nations who are not manufacturing much of anything. Liberals are saying that the fines will motivate manufacturing not to emit CO2 into the air. These fines will have no effect on climate change - as the proponents of this scheme claim. The sun controls the climates of this planet and all the other planets in our solar system. Besides, no amount of money given to the poor and the underdeveloped nations will have one iota of effect on how the sun warms the earth. However, the cost of the fines will be passed on to the consumer. Obama claims that energy costs will “skyrocket”.

This whole scheme is to ruin manufacturing in the United States.

Was al gore working on cap and trade 30 years ago when he also invented the internet?

“An Inconvenient Truth,” viewers are asked, “Are you ready to change the way you live”? Following this line of thinking, the movie’s web site suggests many ways that you can “reduce your impact at home,” including using less heating and air conditioning, buying expensive fluorescent light bulbs, using less hot water, using a clothesline rather than a dryer, carpooling, flying less and buying cost-inefficient hybrid cars

Tennessee Center for Policy Research reported that Gore’s Nashville mansion consumed more than 20 times the electricity than the national average. Last August, the Gore mansion burned more than twice the electricity in a single month as the average American family uses in an entire year. Gore’s heated pool house alone uses more than $500 in electricity every month.

Can anyone explain in normal terms what the cap and trade thing consists of, please?

A tax on individuals without calling it a tax. Everything, energy related, will cost more. Transportation, heat, light & power, trucking and delivery costs of all goods will go up, raising the prices on everything. No sector of our society will escape higher costs. We’ll be saving no one, certainly not our planet, and while we punish ourselves with these higher costs, industry will go where they’re welcomed, not punished, and high unemployment and loss of businesses will continue.

Countries such as China and India won’t be participating. All of our efforts and self punishment will be for nothing as other nations reap the rewards of our losses. And this scam is based on unproved claims by scientists and organizations who stand to gain by perpetuating the idea that man has the ability to control the earth’s climate.

Just follow the money, the grants and the politics of power and control. Who is behind the scam and what can they gain from their efforts?

And, most importantly, who are the skeptics and what are their credentials?

Al Gore has been caught in many lies and exagerations. It’s all on record and substantiated. Al Gore also refuses to debate usually demonizing skeptics rather than addressing their arguments. This alone should be cause to question the legitimacy of the GW movement.

I believe Gore also “purchases” his carbon credits (to assuage his own “guilt” over his massive energy footprint) through either this or one of his other companies, basically costing him little or nothing.
