I loved that definition he gave, (paraphrased) Liberals see Washington as a place where great things happen, Conservatives see America as the place where great things happen.

Gosh .. that was stunning and touching to hear him speak so openly about his son’s death and how he found God again. sniff ...

Missed the comment about DC and libs and conservatives. Was that how he said it?

Basically, they interviewer asked him if he was Liberal when he first came to Washington and he said “yes, although I would have said no back then, all of us are” (meaning the press) because of how they looked at the country. Then he explained his definition.

And how right he is ... imagine what we’d be dealing with (as in the old days) if not for FNC. Shuddering, thinking of how stilted and controlled mainstream news was before them.

Thank you for the ‘heads up’. Would never have seen this without it. Missed the beginning, but loved what we saw. Mr. Hume will be long missed in this house. . .we wish him peace.

I’m listening to Roger Mudd now .. sad that he and Brit are from another era of integrity in journalism that’s about gone.

Thanks! I was able to catch the last few minutes. I did not know how handsome his son was! What a tragedy and how amazing a man Brit must be to have found the strength through his faith to come to terms with it. I will miss seeing Brit every night, but he said during his last show that he will be on from time to time as a part of the panel. That is not nearly as time consuming as having responsibility for the content of the entire show.

I think Bret is a worthy replacement. He reminds me of Brit in that he tends more to the conservative side, but tries to be "fair and balanced".
