Has Media Let Obama's Reversal Pass Unnoticed?
Publius' Forum ^ | 11/26/08 | Warner Todd Huston

Obama is starting to feel a bit of pressure from members of the far left of his own party who are beginning to raise their eyebrows over the fact that he hasn't shown any desire to institute any "change" thus far with his staff and cabinet picks even though they had "hope" that he would. Obama went so far as to address the situation today as MSNBC reported on its FirstRead blog.

Obama explains away his lack of "change" and his picking of a plethora of out-of-work Clintonites by saying that who he puts on his staff and cabinet don't matter. It's because he is the change we seek, you see? But, wait, you might ask. If the press were paying attention, they might remember that during his acceptance speech he said this whole thing wasn't about him, it was about us? Wasn't it that we were the change we were waiting for... right?

Is the press going to let him get away with dropping that hoary rhetoric only to say now it's suddenly all about him? Would they let such arrogance, such a flip-flop, from a Republican pass so easily?

There's an editorial in The Nation currently criticizing Obama's appointment of Gates, Tom Toles has a cartoon criticizing Obama's economic team, and today at the press conference they were asking Obama how recycling a bunch of Washington insiders equals change.

Got popcorn?

Like Matthews said...it his job to help obama be successful. I expect this posture will be the norm. These editorials are meaningless until he starts.

The media promoted and voted for him, so they are too invested to turn on him.

What did they expect? A guy with zero experience isn’t going to know anyone who can fill all the positions.

The only ones Hussein knows is Ayers, Rezco, Wright, etc. and even that fool knows he can’t appoint them to anything.

Yeah, but tv news watching will get real boring if they don’t report on the coming scandals. It’s all about the ratings. They can’t continue to report on the perfect Obama’s with no mistakes forever-or can they?

Yes, I believe they can. And, it’s exactly what the majority of the electorate want to hear, because it fits their image of ‘the one’ walking on water. If they throw in Hollywood gossip, car chases, and creative ways to continue bashing Bush, they’ll be fine.

“No, comrades, it is the NUANCES of The One that you fail to comphrehend. Since all goodness comes from His hands, and He is thew ultimate source of Change, then the lesser acolytes matter not, you see?

Besides, who are YOU to question The One? You’re not racist, are you?”

Nothing says CHANGE like Darth Cheney's cousin, and the Clinton administration cabinet.

That doesn't leave much HOPE for any of US.

When you spent 2 + years promoting a Jew-hating, anti-American, anti-capitalist, terrorist-loving, dictator appeasing, baby-killer lying, socialist empty suit, you can’t let him fail. You promoted and elected a stooge with no brains! Now you can’t let him fail, EVER!

It makes one admire Bush more. He weathered the criticism pretty well although we were disappointed in his non-response many times. Obama may never be tested that way and he won't have the benefit of growing and maturing from the attacks from the press. He'll remain the boy president.
