WASHINGTON - We may soon be calling Hillary Rodham Clinton “Madame Secretary.”
President-elect Barack Obama is considering the New York senator and former first lady for secretary of state - an appointment that would go a long way toward healing the wounds left by their bruising Democratic primary.
Two Democratic officials confirmed that Clinton - long rumored to be a contender for the job - is under serious consideration.
Adding to the intrigue, Obama and Clinton met yesterday in Chicago, according to a Democratic official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.

With a vote by a state that keeps getting more and more liberal and I live in NYC.
Has anyone told her SOS requires diplomacy? She will not be able to shriek at the NATO or Kuwait..

I have always assumed that what the clintons really want is power and money. You can’t suck up a lot of donations and bribes if you are Secretary of State. Maybe it would feed her ego, though. But it’s hard work, and not that much return for it.

Why can’t Dims appoint a babe (eg Sarah Palin) once in awhile. I mean really...we’ve had to stare at the ugly mugs of Albright, Reno, and now Clinton. Cmon, there has to be at least one babe in the Dims ranks somewhere!

The Sec. of State is no longer in the line of succession anymore. That was changed during the Truman administration. That was the reason that Henry Kissinger could become Sec. of State since he was not born in the U.S. Remember how much grief Al Haig got the day Reagan was shot for saying, “I’m in charge here.”? Haig forgot that the succession line was changed.
The line of Succession goes: VP, Speaker of the House, & Senate pro Temp.
