Video of McCain/Palin at Townhall in Michigan - PUMA Speaks First
The Patriot Room ^ | September 18, 2008 | Bill Dupray

McCain is a natural at these things, but Palin did very well. She answers questions in her folksy, non-Washington, regular gal way. For example, most politicians, including McCain, refer to Washington, D.C. as "Washington," but Palin, like a lot of regular Americans, tends to use the term "D.C."

Click the photo for the video link.

It is 37 minutes long but here are a few markers by topic.

2:00 - A proud PUMA opened the questioning; Sarah responds.

8:00 - Earmarks - McCain on corruption and evil practices in government; how to clean it up

10:35 - Palin's best answer - Vetoes of spending in Alaska and the "nonsense" of American politicians begging Saudis for more oil production. Crowd loves it.

13:00 Trial Lawyers/Malpractice reform - McCain

15:25 Immigration - McCain acknowledges border enforcement is necessary, notes that 2 million illegals who have committed crimes should be deported or in jail (had not heard that before), but that for the law abiding illegals (God's children), we need a humane plan, like a guest worker program, etc.

More . . .

The McCain campaign needs to let Palin answer questions directly instead of trying to make everything energy policy. Palin gets a question on foreign affairs and next thing you know it turns into energy related, pipeline, offshore drilling etc. Give her some latitude.

voters are stupid. It’s coming down to just 4 or 5 issues. Security and foreign affairs = energy policy in my opinion. All roads lead there.

PUMA = “Pary Unity My Arse”. They are Hillary supporters who do not support Barack Obama. Most of them are very enthusiastic about McCain because he chose Palin.

Gas Prices are a Republican issue they are pounding on.

The Republicans have successfully taken this issue and there’s absolutely no way the left can defend their position.

Depressing when you have to mine votes from one of the two corrupt Marxists supporters --both stood for the same thing

We refer to it as D.C. because the REAL Washington is in the Pacific Northwest.

Washington is a state in the NW, especially as viewed from Alaska. Duh.

It is a Hillary Clinton supporter who refuses to fall in line and support 0bama.

It stands for Party Unity My A**!

They are co-belligerents in the battle to save America from 0bama.

I’ve noticed. from reading their websites, that the behavior of Obama and his supporters, has actually caused many PUMA’s to rethink many aspects of Liberalism and begin to warm up to Conservative values a bit.

Damn she’s good in a townhall meeting. Strings it all together on energy and energy independence. This was a complete success on her part. She indeed is a pitbull on this topic.

My view on this is, you won't agree with every single person on every thing. but with John McCain at least there is an opportunity to debate the issues.

The dems/Marxists will just pass a bill and never care what the people have to say.

Gov. Palin said in her interview with Hannity last night that John McCain didn't make her check her opinions at the door.

Most dems are not confident enough in their positions to allow debate because they know that most Americans will not support their positions.

Wow, THANK YOU for posting the link to this video, and also for the helpful markers on this nearly 38-minute video. I really wanted to see this Grand Rapids, Michigan town hall meeting with McCain and Palin, and had only seen snippets of it on FNC up to this point.

I'll pass this along to everyone on my ping lists, along with your helpful marks. Thanks again! :o)
