If politicians are really concerned about the rising cost of gasoline, why don’t they cut or temporarily suspend the taxes?

Excellent read. This pretty well sums it up.

With the oil companies making up the figures given, how does one know who is lying. We known the state and federal tax rate, the rest is pure speculation.

Shirley, you’re not actually defending oil companies charging us $4/gallon.

Tell me you’re not.

Oil companies’ scalping version of free enterprise, is colliding face-on, into the American consumer’s need to get to work.

They’re on the wrong side of renewable energy. They’re on the wrong side of fuel-efficiency. They’re on the wrong side of terrorism.

They’re on the wrong side.

Sadly, or president is too.

What little I heard sounded like a referendum on “Global warming.” Quacks all over the place, there are.

Get ready for the line of drivel about how the BIG OIL co.s are ripping and gouging the consumer. The oil co.s are publicly traded businesses and they've been investigated
ad nauseum. But somehow the great experts who comment on oil co.s think they have some special insight that no one else has.
No one has to proclaim the oil co.s saints to understand that the cheap plentiful supplies of fuel they've delivered have contributed greatly to our high standard of living.
Those complaining about the high salary of some oil co. executive see no problem with paying $50 to watch some thug
with a multimillion dollar contract play football.
The oil co.s are big and they may be evil but neither has
much to do with the price of fuel. Those who think it does should go back to books on UFOs and fake moon landings.

Who’s Gouging Who?

April 1, 2008 — Did you know that the state of California makes 64 cents in taxes on a gallon of gasoline while the oil companies make only eight cents of each dollar in gasoline sales, or 24 cents if gasoline is three dollars a gallon? Or that the federal government makes 18 cents per gallon?

No, this is not an April Fool’s joke. This is the truth. In general, states average 29 cents per gallon in taxes on a gallon of gas.

So who’s really gouging the American public? If politicians are really concerned about the rising cost of gasoline, why don’t they cut or temporarily suspend the taxes?
