Be advised that Angel's problem is happening in the Detroit area, where a strong anti-gun sentiment exists in the criminal justice system.

The only reason I can see to help this person is so it didn't happen to others. I hope the NRA stays out of this. I don't want my NRA funds helping someone who doesn't support or even like the NRA.

If they do prosecute him, he can turn around and sue the doodle out of 'em.

I don't know him but wish him the best. In certain parts of the country it is just about impossible to exercise your second amendment rights without violating some ordinance.

If they really set out to get you, they probably will eventually.

This what I know so far. Shamaya is in the Oakland County Jail and was incarerated yesterday. I do not know what he is charged with, or where he was arrested. What confuses me here is that unregistered firearms is usually considered a misdemenor here. I figured he'd just post a bond and be released. I looked up the local news links and found nothing.

This from Al on The High Road. "I'm going to tell you what I know of the situation. Hopefully I can do it in such a way as to not betray any confidences. He was arrested in his home. Therefore, he is not charged with carrying without a permit. He's accused of having firearms NOT properly registered with the state of Michigan. I assume this means handguns. Frankly I highly doubt this charge. Also, he was reported to the police as "a danger and a vast security threat." I also highly doubt this as well. Without saying more, I'll just point out that it's possible for any of us to be in the same situation. Regardless how law-abiding we are. I'm only typing this to stop all the speculation. I'm sure more details will be at the waronguns blog as it becomes available." -------------------------------- I don't want to speculate further until I find out more of the facts.

Angel is as straight up a guy and as nice a guy as you will meet. I have talked to him selveral times on the phone and have great respect for his apporach and his accomplishments. He has helped, all on his own volition, in several causes with which I have been personally involved. He has put his money, hist time, and his heart where his mouth is as regards the 2nd amendment specifically, and the constitution of this great republic in general.

Sounds like he has been targetd vindictively and with the help of a law enforcement organization that has little respect for the above named documents.

Angel...we are with you and will support you in any way possible. Both monetarily and with letters of reference...and there on the ground if you ever needed us.

Sending in a machinggun-toating, flak-vested SWAT team on a misdemeanor serving indeed. Not even any homework or consideration given that he might be trying to comply with the very regulations they arrest him for. Just bringing in heavy weaponry to make sure one of the peons is not keeping a few hanguns against their wishes.

What elitist, tyranical irony...but a sick and dangerous irony that could easily have gotten Angel and anyone with him killed had he had any inclination to try and oppose their heavy-handed tactics.
