Op/Ed: Planned Parenthood

If you visit the on line store of Planned Parenthood, you will find yourself bombarded with the operative word, "choice". Who among us does not like to have a choice? We all want the freedom to make our own decisions.

Among their current products is their holiday card "Choice on Earth". It is hard to imagine anyone with a true knowledge of the meaning of Christmas sending out these cards...as Christians celebrate the birth of Christ, Planned Parenthood celebrates abortion.

The truth is, Planned Parenthood, by their very actions, is about anything but choice. They did not want the judicial system to have the choice of holding Scott Peterson responsible for the death of his unborn son Connor, for fear it would give personhood to the unborn. They do not want a parent to have the choice to know if their minor daughter is seeking an abortion without their consent. They do not want women to have the choice of full disclosure of the risks of abortion before they have one. They do not want to acknowledge the aftermath of abortion in many women as evidenced by their continual denial of post abortion stress. They try to drown out the voices of those choosing to come forward warning of the dangers of abortion through personal experience. They do not want the choice of abstinence education in schools even if the parents of the students support it. They have tried to discredit pregnancy centers even though many women choose to go to them. In spite of the fact that the majority of Americans oppose partial birth abortion, that choice does not matter to Planned Parenthood as they work to keep it legal despite public opposition.

There once was a young woman named Mary in an embarrassing situation: pregnant but not yet married. Planned Parenthood would have be pleased if Mary had an abortion.
