"So even though everybody knew about this, the 9-11 Commission, in a single sentence, dismisses the al-Qaeda/West African diamonds link out of hand. The CIA went to some lengths to try and discredit this story, while at the same time the FBI was sending investigative teams to West Africa. The 9-11 Commission was relying on "intelligence documents" (which would, obviously, come largely from the CIA) which attempted to discredit the diamond link. Yet, available evidence existed and was well-documented which pointed to the diamond link and to the transfer of funds by known al-Qaeda operatives.
All this smells of cover-up, with the official 9-11 Commission report being the cover. I'd like to make a suggestion. Perhaps the 9-11 Commission was loath to take the al-Qaeda diamond story seriously because of internal pressure from Commissioner Jamie Gorelick? Gorelick, who was Deputy Attorney General under Bill Clinton, certainly is no stranger to stonewalling and impeding government investigations, such as when she helped to block the federal probe into some of Clinton's questionable re-election fundraising activities. What incentive would Gorelick have to play down the diamond trade link to al-Qaeda? The fact that her responsibility for the firewall against information sharing between agencies meant that the results of the FBI investigations in West Africa could not be passed along to the CIA, which then could not use the information to direct intelligence operations to act against this diamond trade."

*bump* "Buy a diamond, fund a terrorist"
Maybe the diamonds are baseball diamonds and Bush is behind it all.
That's what the cartel that owns mostof the mines wants you to believe...
The other side of the story is that a Christian bunch of "freedom-fighters" are in control of some very productive areas in deepest, darkest Africa; the gubmints and cartels want to own them and exterminate the "gorillas".
Wish I could remember more....
Not what it seems, maybe.
Spider Sense...tingling.
Since its founding the UN has used the most ruthless and devious means to promote communism in Africa. Katanga, Rhodesia, South Africa and Angola stand as grim examples.
