Biden’s tale also runs contrary to every bit out of World War II history I’ve read, and I read a lot. Granted, some of the New Guinea tribes practiced cannibalism, but there is no indication that they actually included American soldiers among their victims. Indeed, those natives and American service people generally got along quite well, especially because of all the goodies we gave them. True, my late Father was in the Army Air Corps stationed in New Guinea during WWII and he always had something positive to say about the natives there. In fact it was his lifelong wish to return there for a visit but he passed away in 1988 before he could do so.
