On the morning of April 4, 2004, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Austin Sheehan was an altar server at the Palm Sunday Mass at his military base in Iraq. By nightfall he was dead.
Sheehan’s death led his mother, Cindy Sheehan, to question why the U.S. was involved in the war. The rationale behind the war, she said, kept changing. She founded Gold Star Families for Peace and, in August of 2005, famously staged a month-long protest encampment at then-President George W. Bush’s Texas ranch.
This Friday, Sheehan will speak in the auditorium of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 321 W. Chestnut St., about her planned Women’s March on the Pentagon Oct. 20-21.
Sheehan’s appearance, said Daniel Martin, a member of 1040 for Peace and a board member at Peace Action Network of Lancaster, is “to get people energized in the antiwar movement again.”
Martin said Sheehan will discuss what she calls the harmful effects “the U.S. Empire” is having on the rest of the world, and she will be organizing groups to march with her in October on the 51st anniversary of the 1967 antiwar event in Washington, D.C.
According to Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness, which is co-sponsoring Sheehan’s visit, the march “is in response to the military aggression by the USA that is continuing today.”
Lancaster is one of four stops Sheehan has planned on the East Coast. Others are Boston, New York City and Washington, D.C. The event is free and nonpartisan.
The title of the October protest — “Women’s March on the Pentagon” — is a bit misleading, he acknowledged.
“Anybody can march,” Martin said. “Women are leading the march.”

I seem to recall that the LSM were the ones that put her antics on ice, reporting-wise, while BHO, “The One they were waiting for”, was acting stupidly and the CIC.
She had nothing to say of course while Obama was bombing the snot out of Libya, trying to overthrow the government of Egypt, and supplying Syrian rebels with money and weapons.
Actually she was protesting Obama’s wars. The left-stream media just didn’t cover it then.
