When Boca Raton lawyer James Herb filed legal papers last year to have President Donald Trump declared mentally unfit, he had no inkling his personal crusade would earn him a spot in a book that longtime liberal political pundit Bill Moyers said should become “an instant best-seller.”
Along with more than a dozen of the nation’s top psychiatrists and mental health experts, Herb was invited to write a chapter in “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President,” a 360-page call to action that is to be released Tuesday by St. Martin’s Press.
While the 67-year-old probate and guardianship lawyer might not share the medical know-how of fellow contributors who share his suspicions that Trump is dangerously unstable, Herb is the only one to act on his misgivings.
Since shortly before the November election, Herb has been trying to persuade a Palm Beach County judge to assemble a panel of experts to determine if Trump, a seasonal resident of Palm Beach, is competent to serve as commander in chief. Separate, but nearly identical, petitions that Herb filed before and after the election were rejected by Circuit Judge Jaimie Goodman....
