JAPANESE peace campaigners have written to US President Donald Trump urging him to declare the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings a war crime.
A copy of the letter from the Society for Requiring the Admission of Historic Responsibility of the US Government for Dropping Atomic Bombs on Japan, dated today was sent to the Morning Star.
“This indiscriminate mass killing should not be forgiven, because it was a crime against humanity,” it read, pointing to the 340,000 deaths from the bombings on August 6 and 9 in 1945.
But Washington continues to justify the atrocities “with the excuse that they hastened the end of the protracted war” and saved lives.
The group said that former US president Harry Truman’s claim after ordering the bombing that a million US troops would have died invading Japan was “false.”
It said General Douglas MacArthur and other commanders estimated a maximum of 66,000 casualties, a quarter of them fatal.
That was his best revenge.Outliving his captors.

I googled “Society for Requiring the Admission of Historic Responsibility of the US Government for Dropping Atomic Bombs on Japan” and the only place it showed up was on this thread. I would have expected at least one other reference if they really existed. So it is neither the entire nation of Japan nor the government. At most it is a couple of Japanese kooks., or maybe even it was just made up by the Brits who wrote the source web article.

Hiroshima was intended to end the war quickly. Which it did.

We didn't start the war, Japan did.
Review the actions of the Japanese army. They are perhaps the most barbaric army in modern history. The Nazis, the Soviets, the Turks are perhaps better known but there is no atrocity of war that Japan didn't commit.
Do you really think that Japan wouldn't have used nuclear weapons against us if Japan had developed it first?
President Truman's first responsibility was to save American lives. If President Truman had to kill Japanese in order to save Americans, then he had to make that hard call. The lives of those people are on the hands of the Emperor and/or Prime Minister who should have realized that the war was lost and further sacrifice was pointless.
Now, take a hike. Because this is a family forum I won't tell you what I would really say but it is a seven-letter, two-word phrase that begins and ends with "f".

Manufactured fake news by a relatively small political faction in Japan. All part of the attack on Trump and America. Soros could have just as well written it. Next Merkel will demand reparations for the “bombing of Dresden” another war crime.
