40 policemen against thousands of protesters wouldnt have ended good. They’d have to get up on the roof and start lobbing tear gas canisters. You can’t meet that type of force on the ground with shields and billy clubs. Too many protesters.

A city the size of Berkeley has a lot more than 40 policemen, and they can be called out in an emergency. And there are mutual aid agreements. Beyond that, you can ask the gov to call out the Guard.

It would not be too hard to bring in more police and also to capture the terrorists. All you'd have to do is set up a barricaded or walled in area nearby and sucker them in with a few black clad, masked infiltrators, then close it off. I could say more but I don't want these local terrorists to read it. Suffice to say any reasonably skilled PD force could easily capture them. They didn't because they didn't want to probably due to orders.
