Andrew Mitchell, a senior member of the UK's parliament and former international development secretary, said to the BBC that the UK must be willing to shoot down Russian jets to supposedly protect civilians on the ground.
"What we are saying is very clear. No one wants to see a firefight with Russia, no one wants to shoot down a Russian plane," Mitchell said. "But what we do say is that the international community has an avowed responsibility to protect and that protection must be exerted.
"If that means confronting Russia air power defensively, on behalf of the innocent people on the ground who we are trying to protect, then we should do that," the Tory MP noted.
Mitchell in his arrogance believes that such an attack would not mean a "declaration of war against Russia".

Mourir pour Syrie?
I even provided you direct quotes from Pence and Trump indicating they know and understand the “big picture” threat from a reemerging Russia. Putin is out to basically restore the Soviet Union and then-some with eventual control of the strategic oil/gas-rich Middle East. You are either to simpleminded to understand the big picture, or you are a Putinista, a diehard supporter/proponent of that murderous dictator no matter what he does.
What's doubly insane about it is that these people, like the Clinton team, are willing to start World War III for the sake of protecting Sunni jihadi fighters in Syria rather than over any vital western interest.
From the way this MP is behaving, you'd think that Russia or Assad were trying to take the Falkland Islands, though given the warped priorities of liberal internationalists, a lot of British MPs would probably rather go to war for the sake of Sunni jihadis than for the sake of their own territory.
Either you’re a Clinton agent or you are dangerously paranoid and stuck in the Cold War.
Either way, you are a threat to Americans. I want no part of the WW3 that you are chomping at the bit to help produce.
Screw you. All you’re doing in the eyes and minds of anyone who knows and understands anything about Russia and Putin, is demonstrate how utterly stupid you are. And I will point that out every single time you, in all your ignorance and stupidity, attempt to discredit me or the indisputable facts I provide.

You discredit yourself with your perfect coordination with the Clinton campaign, in addition to the complete wrongheadedness of your thesis.
Mods: Cleanup needed in this aisle. This wretch and his Clinton campaigning is beyond the pale.
You are beyond stupid, fast approaching retarded. Amazing you can operate a computer.
Absolutely, our mid east policy is just moving from one crisis to another with no long term plan. If we didn’t want a fire in Syria we shouldn’t have fanned the flames.
The only people that are going to crush ISIS are Assad, Putin, and the Iranians. Glad we have expended so much blood, money, and political capital to hand Iraq and Syria to Iran and stoke an apocalyptic confrontation between the Iranian and Sunni Arab world...
If Putin were bombing US or British territory you’d have a point. Since Aleppo isn’t an American city the last time I checked, perhaps you can explain why we’re supposed to get so worked up about Russian planes bombing Sunni rebel targets in Syria, and why it’s our duty to spend US (and British) blood and treasure to defend these Sunni rebels.
No surprise that you flagrantly violate explicit board rules, since your presence here is directly opposed to the site mission.
I will now proceed to spread the word far and wide about you.
PING!
Yes, I may survive the initial blasts where I live, but then die of starvation or radiation sickness.
ETL wants your kids to die in a war he neither plans to fight nor to pay for.
If that sounds exactly like what Hillary Clinton wants to do, well... it is.
The rest of it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out.
I believe I would be pretty close to incoming based on my location. Can you believe we are even having these thoughts?
8 years of complete destructive policy by Obama and gang. Speaking of which, where is Val Jar these days? She seems TOO quite.
is that true? Im seriously asking. Id rather trust your paragraph and ask then spend a year researching it. scuse my laziness...
Well said. A Syrian lady mentioned to me that many of the insurgents carry flags from their original nations. Imagine seeing Chinese and Indian flags in downtown New York, in the hands of foreign armed militias.
You lying idiot punk. Where did I advocate going to war with Russia? I was just warning about some of the troubling things theyve been up to. And making the point that the democrats cant really have too much of a problem with the Russians, despite their BS talk, given all that they did to build them up, while at the same time weakening us. In fact, I warned that the Obama admin may well be trying to set the US up for defeat (post 62), considering all that they did to strengthen Russia while weakening us. Putin absolutely has a larger agenda in play in the Middle East.
Here below is what Trumps VP, Mike Pence, had to say in the recent debate regarding Russia and the Middle East...
_________________________________
QUIJANO: I want to turn now to Syria. Two hundred fifty thousand people, 100,000 of them children, are under siege in Aleppo, Syria. Bunker buster bombs, cluster munitions, and incendiary weapons are being dropped on them by Russian and Syrian militaries. Does the U.S. have a responsibility to protect civilians and prevent mass casualties on this scale, Governor Pence?
PENCE: The United States of America needs to begin to exercise strong leadership to protect the vulnerable citizens and over 100,000 children in Aleppo. Hillary Clintons top priority when she became secretary of state was the Russian reset, the Russians reset. After the Russian reset, the Russians invaded Ukraine and took over Crimea.
And the small and bullying leader of Russia is now dictating terms to the United States to the point where all the United States of America the greatest nation on Earth just withdraws from talks about a cease-fire while Vladimir Putin puts a missile defense system in Syria while he marshals the forces and begins look, we have got to begin to lean into this with strong, broad-shouldered American leadership.
It begins by rebuilding our military. And the Russians and the Chinese have been making enormous investments in the military. We have the smallest Navy since 1916. We have the lowest number of troops since the end of the Second World War. Weve got to work with Congress, and Donald Trump will, to rebuild our military and project American strength in the world.
But about Aleppo and about Syria, I truly do believe that what America ought to do right now is immediately establish safe zones, so that families and vulnerable families with children can move out of those areas, work with our Arab partners, real time, right now, to make that happen.
And secondly, I just have to tell you that the provocations by Russia need to be met with American strength. And if Russia chooses to be involved and continue, I should say, to be involved in this barbaric attack on civilians in Aleppo, the United States of America should be prepared to use military force to strike military targets of the Assad regime to prevent them from this humanitarian crisis that is taking place in Aleppo.
Theres a broad range of other things that we ought to do, as well. We ought to deploy a missile defense shield to the Czech Republic and Poland which Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama pulled back on out of not wanting to offend the Russians back in 2009.
QUIJANO: Governor, your two minutes are up.
PENCE: Weve just got to have American strength on the world stage. When Donald Trump becomes president of the United States, the Russians and other countries in the world will know theyre dealing with a strong American president.

Again, from the Oct 5, 2016 VP debate...
PENCE: What were dealing with is the you know, theres an old proverb that says the Russian bear never dies, it just hibernates.
And the truth of the matter is, the weak and feckless foreign policy of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has awakened an aggression in Russia that first appeared a few years ago with their move in Georgia, now their move into Crimea, now their move into the wider Middle East.
And all the while, all we do is fold our arms and say were not having talks anymore.
To answer your question, we just need American strength. We need to we need to marshal the resources of our allies in the region, and in the immediate, we need to act and act now to get people out of harms way.

Nobody’s interested in having people like you goad the US into yet another ill-advised war.
Whether by design or merely as a useful idiot, the plain fact is that you are here advancing Clinton campaign themes using a prepared portfolio, absurdist argument, and insults for those not similarly afflicted.
Believe it or not, pretending to frame it as a pro-Trump argument fools no one.
