There are a number of researchers concerning the Indian population north of the Rio Grande, pre-European settlement who arrive at a total of around two-three million for that whole, gigantic area. The reason being many Indians were either nomadic, hunter-gatherers who didn't cultivate the huge tracts of land necessary to build a large population or simply lived in areas where large populations were impossible due to the lack of resources to maintain one...like the Southwest.

Modern revisionists, without any proof, claim that there were many more millions. To which people concerned with the truth might ask: where are the remains of the big cities which are typical signs of large populations? Where are the cemeteries with the bodies of millions of ex-inhabitants? They don't exist.

Only in the fevered imaginations of western civilization-hating leftist academics who want to maintain the myth of the peaceful with nature/non-violent Indian who was ruthlessly exterminated by typical, racist Europeans. The truth is neither side were angels in the matter. But again, leftists simply lie abut virtually everything.

See our sidebar “Did Columbus Kill All the Indians” in our “Patriot’s History of the United States.” The number in the US/Mexico is now put at 15-40m (numbers vary wildly).
