I didn’t see this earlier. Yes, Maya was the only dependent on the Soetoro tax return because Obama was in the legal custody of Catholic Social Services of Connecticut in 1973 and the physical custody of Madelyn Payne Dunham. His grandmother was appointed his legal guardian or foster mother.
Stanley Ann and Lolo Soetoro were stripped of their parental rights by a Hawaii Family Court in 1971 when Obama returned to Hawaii as an Unaccompanied Minor with foreign nationality. He was taken into protective custody by ICE at the Hawaii airport and then transferred to Catholic Social Services of Connecticut until the age of majority, 1979. On his 18th birthday, Obama was an emancipated adult.
In the 1980 Soetoro divorce, Obama is the adult dependent upon the Soetoros for education. From 1971 to 1979, the Soetoros could not claim Obama has a dependent because he was in the care and legal custody of Catholic Social Services of Connecticut. Consequently, he has a Connecticut SSN issued to him through his legal custodian, Catholic Social Services of Connecticut.
This explanation for the SS# is all new to me.

If he came into the u.s. at Hawaii, why and how did a social services agency from Connecticut get involved?
Is there a link anywhere (or a scan of it) to the family court doc stripping the soetoros of parental rights to 0?
Is there a link (or a scan of it) to the soetoro divorce papers where it discusses 0?
How did 0 get to be a dependent again in 1980 after being not a dependent in the years before?

IMO there is no evidence to support any claim that SADOS ever lost custody of Barry. For tax purposes IRS regs allowed the grandparents to claim a dependent deduction for Barry if they were providing more than 50% of his support at the time having nothing to do with legal custody.
As of the SADOS Soetoro divorce, Barry was STILL a “child of the marriage” over age 18 at the time.
Come to think of it i havent seen any doc’s making Stanley ann dunham barry’s mother- (except the proven forged BC). there is a newspaper article of a (ANNA OBAMA)..read my post and theory from #18 forward-

So if Dunham and Soetoro were stripped of parental rights in 1973 then how could Obama be dependent on them for education in 1980? Legally they wouldn’t be his parents anymore, would they?
