Not silly at all. Especially when most whites in Hawaii are called “Haleole” by Hawaiians/non-whites (Hawaiian for “honky”, “cracker”).

Bull, the stewardesses would have whispered behind their curtain, that's it. They certainly wouldn't have denied a seat to a ticketed customer and you don't know if she flew unaccompanied or not. I don't know how much experience you have with mixed race newborns, but they don't always look "mixed" until they are a little older and Ms. Dunham was dark haired, possibly with a good tan and BO is not very dark even as an adult. She and her baby would not have looked mismatched at the time they would have traveled back to WA state in September when the baby was 4-6 weeks in age. It also doesn't matter that her SS number was issued in WA state either, it is where she graduated from high school after all. There is simply no there, there. You are postulating things (like that airlines wouldn't let her fly with a mixed race infant) based on your desire that they be true, not on any fact based knowledge.
