I believe what Jeff is saying is that God expects people to act in whatever capacity they are able to act to participate in our communities, helping our neighbors, helping to elect moral leaders, take care of our families through work, using good hygiene to help ward off disease, and various other actions and deeds. But there comes a time, as well, when you've done all that you can and then you must "Let Go and Let God." Paul says to pray without ceasing. That doesn't mean to sit in a closet all day and literally do nothing but pray.

James 2:

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Nice of you to speak for Jeff, but in my life, I consult God. I don’t go mindlessly through my days doing what I think might be right. My days are very prayerful and attentive to the Holy Spirit. My opinion of what might be the right thing to do and God’s can often be different. God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, so I continuously consult Him through out the day. I ask, then act, not the other way around.
