His “reputation” would have been ruined if knowledge of that illicit relationship were to have been revealed.

As is being shown on this very thread there were people who knew, beyond a doubt, of his homosexual dalliances back then and even that didn't ruin his "reputation".
I understand that if he sired a son with a white woman, Christian or not, that son might be hidden, because it would be embarrassing and reputation-destroying. But some seem to suggest that the son was hidden away to protect his life. Why would a son’s life be more at risk than the daughters’ lives, from the people who assassinated him?
