The True Eucharist
Sapphires | Jonathan Cahn

Posted on 04/26/2002 9:01:52 AM PDT by WhatNot

Many churches focus on the "eucharist," which for them means the bread of the Lord's Supper. Other believer's don't think the concept of the eucharist is Biblical. But the concept of "eucharist" is Biblical. The word "eucharist" comes from the Greek "eu" meaning "good" and "charis" meaning "grace" or "blessing." The eucharist at the Last Supper was not the bread itself, but the blessing Messiah said over the bread. The blessing is one said in Jewish homes to this day: "Baruch Atah Adonai Elohaynu Melech Ha Olam, Ha Motzee Lechem Min Ha Aretz" - "Blessed are You O Lord Our God, King of the Universe, Who brings forth bread from the earth." This is the true eucharist.

The true eucharist is never eaten, it is given. It is a blessing of thanks to God. It's not the bread, it is the blessing over the bread. And this distinction can change your life. Life doesn't consist of the things you have, but the blessings you say over them. You only truly have what you bless and give thanks for. Give the blessing of thanks over your, bread - your parents, your family, your friends, your situation - over everything, good and bad. And your life itself will be truly blessed, for such is the true eucharist.

Luke 22:14-20

TODAY'S MISSION

Prepare a private communion service today, with you and Messiah. Lift up to Him those things that need to receive His blessing - your loved ones, your job, your ministry.

You, know Mom, the more I read these posts concerning the Reformed view of the Lord's Supper, I am more convinced that the RC's have it wrong. It's amazing they can't see it.

You haven't provided a Scripture to show that Mary is dead, so you have no Biblical basis for your opinion. It is just your own brand of extra-Biblical speculation.

Does this pass for Catholic Doctrinal standards. It isn't mentioned in scripture it didn't happen?? I can live with that the assumption never happened..there was no "prayers " to the dead..there was no mass...yep if we do theology by omission you all are in heap big trouble:>)

That has to be one of the dumbest things I have seen. But it may help clarify why Mary can be an intercessor for your prayers. Heck, if she isn't dead, because we can't prove that common sense point from the Bible. She is either still alive, or God took her up to be with him because she was blessed among women. Anyone that special must be able to be an intercessor for our prayers. You guys are absolutely right.

Eucharist is the "Mystery" that ties many to the church that would normally leave. I knew several born again Catholics that attended other churches on Sundays..but they didn't want to leave the sacrament. I will leave it to you to consider what that says.

Apparently, you didn't read the article:

EUCHARIST: HOLY MEAL

I challenge anyone to even TRY to challenge this.

Don't kid yourself ... your email was a crashing disappointment and downright depressing. Hardly the sort of thing to get us "RC's" fired-up. I'm bummed to hear you did not write in anger or "at the end of your rope" one night and, instead, stand by what you said.

If you have evidence of RC's trying to get folks banned, please pass it on to me. I loathe that sort of thing and -- as always -- appreciate the perpetual opportunity for defense of the Church that is the consistent and often ugly bashing of her as Whore of Babylon, etc. etc. I have never known the "RC's" around here to be terribly thinskinned and, moreover, think they do a fine job of handling their own business. Granted, I can see where some would like to have the more disgusting and loathsome posts edited out but I -- for one -- BEG them to reconsider. I think it's important that the contempt for and bigotry against the Church stand in all its awful glory for all to see.

(After all ... you're not paranoid if they're really out to get you ... )

A pity things got so out of hand and that your ire was so strong you couldn't resist the temptation to speak via private e-mail what clearly was improper for the public forum.

As for their taking your grievous actions so seriously as to post them, I think it just goes to show that they're not particularly interested in getting you banned but merely exposing the underbelly of your ministry as practiced here at FR.

Besides, you stand by your words ... as should anyone be prepared to stand behind what they say in private as well as public. Anything less stinks of hypocrisy and the furtive nature best suited to the malevolent intent of a heart of darkness.

THE LAMB'S SUPPER

The threat is not from me, it's from Our Lord in John Chapter 6. You, too, can walk away -- at your own risk.

Anyone that special must be able to be an intercessor for our prayers. You guys are absolutely right.

Only if you believe that Mary was the mother of Christ, suckled him at her breast, taught him to walk and to pray and was pierced by a sword of supreme sorrow at his death ... would it occur to you that Jesus, true God and true man, might listen to what his mother has to say.

Putting it into pedestrian terms, as some have surmised, what a delight it would be to be greeted by Christ with "Ah yes, Wrigley ... a pleasure. I've heard my mother talk so much about you!"

"Oh wow, a threat. Cool."

I feel left out, he didn't threaten me!

How do you get all the good threats? - I didn't even get Mom's 'poison-pen' email! - Nobody likes me, but I'll show you; I'll make up a stuffy, arrogant, and ignorantly pedantic screen handle like "Dr. Stuffy Creep" or something and you'll all be jealous. :o) I mean :o(

You still have not provided Scriptural grounding for your opinion, and so it stands merely your extra-Biblical opinion without a basis in Scripture.

I think 1 Tim 2:5 is very clear about there are NO other mediator's, besides Jesus, between God and man. Mary has no say or no role according to the passage. Anything else is adding to the Scriptures.

"I have never known the "RC's" around here to be terribly thinskinned"

The good Dr. Brian wants to sue the_doc because the_doc called him an idiot.

Come on! You don't think that is 'thinskinned'?

I'm sorry, but I laughed my self silly when I read that one -just as the good Dr. Brian would be laughed out of court!
