DNC Spokesgal Claims to Be 'Appalled' at Bush Impeachment Drive
Newsmax.com ^ | July 25, 2002 | Carl Limbacher

A spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee claimed she was outraged late Wednesday by the efforts of a group of her one-time colleagues who have started a drive to impeach President Bush.

"That's appalling," the DNC's Jennifer Palmieri told WABC Radio's John Batchelor and Paul Alexander, who asked about efforts by the Web site Democrats.com to impeach Bush over the so-called Harken Energy scandal.

"I am against the criminalization of politics," Palmieri insisted, claiming that she also doesn't approve of recent lawsuits filed against the Bush administration by the Washington, D.C.-based legal watchdog group Judicial Watch.

"They file them against Republicans now. I don't like them any better than when they filed them against Clinton staff," she said. Judicial Watch's legal actions have been heralded in the mainstream press for forcing the release of thousands of documents related to the White House Energy Task Force.

The DNC spokeswoman seemed to suggest that related probes by the Securities and Exchange Commission and several congressional committees were also of questionable validity.

"I watched a president get destroyed and I watched a lot of my friends rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars of legal bills with these crazy investigations," Palmieri told WABC.

"I'm happy to fight Republicans and have Republicans fight us on issues, but leave it out of the courtroom, leave it out of personal lives."

After a stint in the White House, Palmieri served as one of three Clinton spokeswomen for several months after the ex-president left office.

Still, despite her familiarity with the Clinton political operation, she offered no comment on her former colleagues' involvement with the Democrats.com Bush impeachment drive.

The Web site's co-founder David Lytel, who helped to develop and edit the Clinton White House's Web site, is pictured on Democrats.com working together with Palmieri's old boss.

She stressed that the DNC had its own separate Web site that had nothing to do with the Bush impeachment drive. But Palmieri did not comment on her one-time DNC colleague Dick Bell's involvement with the project.

Before joining Democrats.com, Mr. Bell was head of the Interactive Media Department at the Democratic National Committee.

It's not clear whether she knew Jock Gill, another Democrats.com advisory board member, who was Director of Special Projects in the Office of Media Affairs in the Clinton White House. Mr. Gill helped develop the White House Web site along with Mr. Lytel.

Or Democrats.com advisory board member Greg Simon, who was Vice President Al Gore's chief domestic policy adviser.

But the DNC spokeswoman certainly knows Stanley Greenberg, the famed former Clinton pollster turned Democrats.com adviser, who is the most prominent name associated with the Bush impeachment drive.

Hmmmmmm......could it be that she knows that there is nothing there to hang on Bush? And, could it be that she knows that Bubba might be pulled in to be placed under scrutiny?

At this point I don't think the Dems are all singing from the same sheet of music. That was always the case for Clinton. He had his own agenda (what was best for Bill) and if it happened to be part of the Democrat Party's agenda, then all the better. This impeach Bush stuff is all about Clinton, period. Most in the Democrat Party will distance themselves from this at least in word pretty quickly.

RATS.com is an exercise in what is known as "plausible deniability". Everybody knows they're tied inexorably to the Democratic party, but when they go out on a limb, "respectable" Democrats can claim to be appalled.

Am I missing it or is there a clear connection here between Democrats.com and the DNC? I mean if these were all al Qaeda agents we'd be bombing somebody based on these sorts of affiliations. Is the connection demonstrated?

The reason I ask- right after 9/11 and in the weeks and months since, democrats on Dem Underground and Democrats.com posted extremely antiAmerican diatribes on their websites. I've always wanted Rush or the GOP to use these sites to show the American people how unAmerican the Dems are. If the Democrats.com site is officially (or just demonstrably) connected to the DNC that means the DNC sanctions those views or at least turns a blind eye to them. This should be shouted from the rooftops. The Clintons, Daschles, McCauliffes et al should be made to answer for every single post on that forum- one at a time.

There were 12 convictions related to the Whitewater fiasco.

The impeachment of Bill Clinton was for other unrelated criminal matters, for which he was not tried in the Courts but in the U.S. Senate.

His law license(Arkansas) was suspended for having committed felony perjury during a deposition for the Paula Jones case(I may not have remembered that correctly; I'm sure someone reading this WILL remember and post the facts.)

These democrat weinies at democrat.com are excercising payback. For them facts are inconsequential, the lack thereof not hindering their endeavors. And they are getting support from the likes of Waxman, Sanchez and Rangel in Congress, and Lieberman in the Senate.

The Democrats have no scruples, none whatsoever. They will do ANYTHING to get back into absolute power.

here is what is on the front page of Democrats.com

NewsMax Credits Democrats.com with Masterminding Impeachment Effort

We had a good laugh reading the rightwingfruitcakes at NewsMax.com, who breathlessly accused Democrats.com of masterminding a Democratic Party conspiracy to impeach Bush. According to Newsmax, Democrats.com is a Clinton-DNC cabal, and powerful Democrats like Joe Lieberman and Henry Waxman call us each morning for their marching orders. Reality check, guys! We're just grassroots Democratic activists, but we're at 100,000 members and growing. Of course, we represent the 51 MILLION Americans who voted for Al Gore over George Bush, and we ARE doing everything we can to impeach Bush for stealing the election - and taking away our freedom. And when that glorious day comes, we will lead the celebration of the restoration of Democracy and Freedom in America!

Ok, they deny any impeachment effort but above is a giant CLICK HERE BUTTON that says IMPEACH BUSH Click Here.

When you click that it says:

Investigate and Impeach Bush for Failing to Act on 911 Warnings - And then Lying About It

This is followed by a bunch of LW liberal lies.

Oh, they claim to have 100,000 users but only 3349 people have signed the petition so far to impeach W. LOL. I invite a FREEP of this petition.

Freep Democrats.com petition HERE>

i bet we can add 3000 FREEPED posts easy.

So, they say they aren't trying to impeach W, then they say they are trying. Which is it? Also, just what freedoms have been taken away from them?

Democrats.com gives the Dems a place to float trial balloons, test ideas. If for one minute, these wacky proposals got any sort of "traction" with mainstream America, you can bet your *ss the Democratic Party would line up behind them in a hurry.

Democrats.com also gives a vehicle for folks like Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, and Katie Couric to smugly say things like, "you know in some circles, people are calling for Bush's impeachment..."

Jerry Nadler, Boise, ID: Definitely time to impeach. That 7-2 decision by the USSC to stop the re-voting was appalling.
