Democrats saying the economy is no longer a major issue is nearly the political equivalent of giving up in the 2002 congressional elections.

With many polls showing that the economy and jobs

"It's a document Walter F. Mondale would have felt comfortable distributing," Mr. Brownstein wrote. It avoids any of the centrist thinking promoted by Mr. Clinton and the Democratic Leadership Council. "Instead, it seems inspired more by Al Gore's ill-fated 2000 campaign, which drifted back toward the old Democratic strategy of wooing interest groups with targeted programs."

Cool.

Its the same old BS from the DemocRats. They are going to scare the old people about Social Security. They are already doing it. I got a newsletter from my local Rat congressman and it was all about how a tax cut means Bush and the meanie GOP is going to stop Social Security payments and throw grandma out into the street.

The sad fact is this lie has been pretty effective for the Rats over the years.

"Voters will not take Democrats seriously as a party to be entrusted with national leadership if they fail to address the most urgent set of national issues," the DLC lectured party leaders last week.

No wonder Gephart was backing Bush on Iraq! Just trying to get out in front, don'tcha know.

I wish the media who get their hands on these Carville, et al memos would print them for all to see. I always think of smoke filled back room scheming when I hear of this. I'm sure they are just thinking of what's good for the country - RIGHT????

LOL...........

Since the Democrats took control of the Senate last year, Majority Leader Tom Daschle has shown his party that he knows how to stall and block Mr. Bush's agenda but that he's not very good at putting together a full-blown, alternative agenda to replace it. The result this week is a party that is still arguing over what it should stand for just five months before the voters go to the polls.

The Demagogue party is not about ideas, it is about slogans. Which is why it's so good. Demagoguery works, let's face it. Conservatives will forever reamin behind the curve while Carvile & Co. use focus group data to appeal, to influence, to buy (allegiance and votes), that's all. Somebody ought to ask them about the 40 year old War on Poverty or some of the FDR programs that were supposed to solve gargantuan problems in no time, but are still "solving" them, while the sheeple swallow up the latest pablum from the masters of feel good propaganda. What to do? I dunno...

It appears that Bush had a breakfast meeting with congressional leaders after the Thur night speech. Sen Lieberman was sitting on his left, (how appropriate) but Dasshole was no where to be seen! ho! ha! ha! ha! ha!

Take that you picayune piker!

I think the new real Democrat track is to attempt to pain Bush as someone whose actions are 110% politically driven. Witness the Dowd piece, Terry Mc's rant and and the Meet the Press debacle where he warned people not to underestimate Bush. His take was though that Bush is a very political man and that most of his decisions regarding this country are based on politics.

Of course the Dems always accuse others of doing that which they themselves do. He Tom, keep telling yourself that no one remembers the Lexus muffler you and Dickie put together. Amazing.

They have lost one scare tactic. I don't think Democrats will be warning Jews that the religious right is out to get them. That may dry up some donations.

LOL!!! Daschle cannot find his way out of a paper bag except to delay, delay, delay with his phony 60 votes required for passage of bills he doesn't like but 51 for bills he likes. When I quickly read this I thought it said stands tall and I knew I had misread -- where is the picture of daschle on the box?

I doubt we'll see much shift in the vote in congressional elections. Abortion and fighting school prayer are too important. However, because Democrats can't use fear of Christians as a campaign tactic, donations won't be as heavy and non-Jews who buy that line about religious extremists won't hear the propaganda this time around.
