[history]
North Carolina's first-term Democratic Sen. John Edwards, whose recent travels from California to Florida, interspersed with visits to Iowa, clearly signal his intention to pursue his party's 2004 presidential nomination, appeared on NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday. What a disappointment.

I think Scott Adams, the cartoonist, put it best: "Don't step in the leadership."

Yes... he rambles and has no point.
Kerry is like a sleeping pill.
But everyone knows Hillary.
Look for Edwards/Clinton in 2004.
POW! Right in the kisser!
They're young, stupid and the soccer-moms will vote for them.
It's 1992 in 2004... trust me.
Bush will be tossed out like his father.
Winning a war gets you the boot. Ask Winston Churchill.
G.W. has to re-tool and get to the Bully Pulpit.
Condi Rice or Powell would be good for VP.
The dims only want one thing... GET THE BUSHS OUT!

If the Meet The Press interview had gone on any longer, we would have heard Edwards robotically reciting, "No controlling legal authority! No controlling legal authority!"

Edwards reminds me of someone running for the student body president of a high school where they always campaign on a platform of bringing back more "school spirit." Only in Edwards case, replace the inane "school spirit" with "leadership" or "fiscal responsibility."

>Clearly, Mr. Edwards, whom People magazine identified as America's "sexiest politician," does not have the courage of his convictions if he has any.
But, he's HOT! Look out, this guy's got a real shot at the presidency. Ignoramous women will swoon and pull that lever in droves.
Groan.

Man you are right about the soccer moms.
They are idiots, and have proven that they can elect the worst possible person to be president, i.e., Clinton, and be pleased with their choice.
Bush needs to regain the moral high ground; retool is a good word for it. He hasn't blown it yet, but he is on the verge of doing so.
I like Rummy for VP, Bush for POTUS obviously, in 2004.
Don't get me wrong, I love Cheney, it's just his ticker that worries me.
He needs some devoted FReeper to donate his heart to him so he can complete a second term, then maybe become POTUS himself.
But Rummy is a stud for the Geritol set, and, demographically, there will be fewer and fewer soccer moms, and more and more shuffleboard moms, in future American elections.
At least that's how I see it.

Mr. Edwards' approval ratings have plummeted to 43 percentWhat suprises me CD is that 43 of those polled still back this guy. After ALLLLLLL he's done for the fine state of NC. Just one more blaring example of why the 17th Amendment shouldn't be there in the first place

The irony of Edward's leadership quotes is that leadership is the exact opposite of what he believes and how he will run his campaign.
He will use focus groups and he will follow the numbers.
He should just campaign on "Vote For Me. I will do whatever you want, no matter how stupid, no matter how dangerous, no matter how shortsighted. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what I mean by leadership!"

"Leadership?" Depends upon what one's definition of what "leadership"...."is".
Edwards is far to pretty to be a real President-he should play one on TV instead. The hours are shorter, the pay is a hundred times as good and mistakes can just be re-shot.

You're right, the word "power" is used by Edwards as "like", "you know", etc., is used by teenyboppers. Without it his speeches would be half as long yet just as boring.
Over eager Edwards sez:
" I didn't go up there to Schmooze the people. Meaning -I Schmoozed the chumps to get up there.
"And the people on the other side are the BIG HMOs and Insurance companies." Liar, I'm on the other side and have never owned a HMO or Ins. Co.-have you?
"Who speaks for those people of NC who I grew up with?" (shouldn't that be, "with whom I grew up"? Petty-yeah I know, but the guy's a Senator and wants to be President.)Duh.......maybe our representatives in the House, John? That is when they're not neutralized by the liberal Senate.
We cannot forget little Vallerie Lakey and the terrible tragedy she suffered and will have to struggle with all her life, John. We also can't forget the lawyer who represented her, and was so lacking in compassion that instead of working probono and allowing the poor victem to recieve the entire award, shamelessly stepped up with his hands out and demanded his share. We can't forget you Johh, but we wish to God you would just go away, so we could try.
