Which parts of the Middle East did God give to the Jews?
The Bible - Authorized (King James) Version | circa 2,500 BC | Moses,

Posted on 04/14/2002 1:37:21 PM PDT by Jack Black

In Genesis 13:14 we read:

And the Lord said unto Abram, after than Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes and look from the place where thou art northward, and soutward, and eastward and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. Arise walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it for I will give it unto thee. Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mam're, which is in Hebron, and built there an alter onto the Lord.

A few questions on this. Is there a standard interpretation of what the modern boundaries of this land grant are?

Would the children of Abram include the Arab nations as well as the Jews? Do both the Jews and Arabs agree on this? (guess that's a rhetorical question)

Later in Numbers 33 we read:

And the Lord spake unto Moses in the palins of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When ye are passed over the Jordan into the land of Cannan;THey ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down their high places; And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therin, for I have given you the land to possess it. ... But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; hten it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides and shall vex you in the land where you dwell.
More over it shall come to pass , that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

Finally the exact boudaries are given in Numbers 34:

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Give these instructions to the Israelites: When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your special possession, these will be the boundaries.

The southern portion of your country will extend from the wilderness of Zin, along the edge of Edom. The southern boundary will begin on the east at the Dead Sea. It will then run south past Scorpion Pass in the direction of Zin. Its southernmost point will be Kadesh-barnea, from which it will go to Hazar-addar, and on to Azmon. From Azmon the boundary will turn toward the brook of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.

"Your western boundary will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea.

"Your northern boundary will begin at the Mediterranean Sea and run eastward to Mount Hor, then to Lebo-hamath, and on through Zedad and Ziphron to Hazar-enan. This will be your northern boundary.

"The eastern boundary will start at Hazar-enan and run south to Shepham, then down to Riblah on the east side of Ain. From there the boundary will run down along the eastern edge of the Sea of Galilee, and then along the Jordan River to the Dead Sea. These are the boundaries of your land." Then Moses told the Israelites, "This is the territory you are to divide among yourselves by sacred lot. The LORD commands that the land be divided up among the nine and a half remaining tribes. The families of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received their inheritance of land on the east side of the Jordan River, across from Jericho."

"From the river of Egypt (some say this is the Tigris, some say the Nile) to the great river, the river Euphrates. Israel should be much bigger than it is. The ol' Pallies have a problem - they're opposing the Lord's people. There are only two sensible options with regard to the Jews: (1) Help them. (2) Leave them alone.

Genesis 15:18

It was on that occasion that the Lord made a covenant with Abram saying, "To your descendants, I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the Great River, Euphrates......"

So what were the new bounderies after God put Isreal in slavery for the sins of the fathers?

God promised the land to Abraham, and his seed. That was before Egypt.

Judges 2:1-3
Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, "I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you into the land which I swore to give to your fathers. I said 'I will never break my covenant with you, and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.' But you have not obeyed my command. What is this you have not done? So now I say, I will not drive them out before you; but they shall become adversaries to you, and their gods shall be a snare to you."

Due to the Israelites not completing with suitable vigor the genocide against the Caananites that is desribed in the book of Joshua, God revoked the covenant. The Israeli's land grant from God is not valid, since it has been revoked for about 100 generations.

"Are these the same people who killed God's son?" No. The Romans soldiers were not descendants of Abraham.(I know what you are getting at.) However, note that God's promise to the Israelites is "forever" (Gen.13:14). If the Jews are disobedient to the Lord, HE will deal with them.(Go back and read that Numbers 33). I remember hearing a reporter ask Golda Maier (sp?), "Are you aware that many bible scholars say that the scriptures predict that the nation of Israel will someday be attacked by the military forces of several of the major powers of the world?" Her response: "Yes......but we are also aware of how it turns out." I often wondered if she really did know what she was saying. All of the Arab countries that joined forces to attack tiny, little Israel in the 1967 war, should realize by now that Israel does know her divine destiny. Only Sadat seems to have finally got the picture.....and his own people killed him for it.

Israeli's were putting numbered tattoo's on the Palestinians?

They were not putting tattoo's on the Palestinians, unless you think that going to Disneyland and having your hand stamped is a "tattoo."
