Triangle, gay leaders attack Church, AFA, and [Catholic Billionaire] Philanthropist Monaghan

ANN ARBOR - Michigan homosexual activists lashed out at the Catholic Church on multiple fronts recently, saying the American Family Association and Ave Maria Foundation have an “unholy alliance” and that many Catholics “feel their faith is being perverted by a bigoted millionaire,” a clear reference to Thomas Monaghan, chairman of the Ave Maria Foundation.

In the Jan. 9 issue of Between the Lines, Michigan’s statewide homosexual newspaper, an unsigned editorial claimed that the Catholic Church is being torn apart over the issue of homosexuality.

“If the Catholic Church is to continue ... it cannot continue to be deaf to legitimate dissent and blind to the violence breeding at its own altars,” the article read.

The editorial claimed that Monaghan and the Ave Maria Foundation “show a disturbing and insidious aspect of dissent” from Catholic Church teaching.

“Catholic millionaire Tom Monaghan funds several Catholic operations that work to crush lgbt (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) rights gains and advocacy organizations. Groups like his ... disrespect and act against (the pope’s) edict that gays and lesbians are to be tolerated and even loved.”

Paul Roney, executive director of the Ave Maria Foundation, says those accusations could not be further from the truth.

“We do not dissent from Church teaching on the issue of homosexuality or on any other topic,” said Roney. “In fact, we wholeheartedly endorse the Holy Father’s view that homosexuals are children of God and worthy of our love. We do have concerns about illicit sexual behavior of any type, which the Church clearly distinguishes from sexual inclination.”

The Between the Lines article was sparked by an Ave Maria Foundation First Friday Breakfast speaking engagement, Jan. 4 at Domino’s Farms, by AFA-Michigan President Gary Glenn.

Glenn’s group advocates on behalf of traditional family values and has tangled with the Triangle Foundation and other homosexual groups. Triangle, the largest homosexual lobby- ing group in Michigan, has called Glenn “enemy number one” and created last fall a web site specifically designed to denigrate him.

During the Jan. 4 event, fewer than a dozen gay-rights supporters waved signs of protest at the intersection of Earhart and Plymouth roads, near the entrance to Domino’s Farms.

Some of the signs read: “Gary, we’re watching you”; “Money helps hate propagate”; and “a lord-loving lipstick lesbian.”

In a related story, Jeff Montgomery, Triangle executive director, blasted the Diocese of Lansing after it revoked permission for a local theater group to perform a homosexual-themed play at Lansing Catholic Central High School. The diocese told the Lansing Civic Players in late December that it could not perform Breaking the Code.

Michael Diebold, the diocese’s director of communication, told the Lansing State Journal, “The theme of the play and the content of the play are contrary to Catholic teachings. We just got wind of it. Had we been made aware that this was planned at a Catholic school, we would not have scheduled the play in the first place.”

But members of the theater group as well as Triangle claim the ban is timed, hateful and intended to make sure the play is never performed.

“I hope someone from the Civic Players realizes this is not going to be a one-time problem and should begin to look for other venues so it won’t have to worry about ‘Mother Church,’ ” Montgomery said in an interview with Lansing’s City Pulse newspaper.

“This decision continues to show how out of touch, mean-spirited and in denial the Church is. It’s so typical of the Catholic Church to have this kind of uninformed and unfortunate reaction. It doesn’t surprise me that it (the Church) would be skittish about presenting an unsympathetic view of state-sponsored harassment of gay people. Perhaps that aspect of this story hits too close to home for them.”

Diebold responded, “It’s the theme of the play, the content of the play and the involvement of the Triangle Foundation that we object to.”

Since then, the play has been booked at a vocational-technical school auditorium in the Lansing School District.

So sinners run the church? Not!

It is also not a popularity contest for the church -- why do millions die for the faith -- it is for their beliefs.

To allow the Rockefeller Foundation groups run the Catholic Church is wrong (Catholics for Choice and Call to Action) is not what Christian churches are made of (though some churches have councils to decide the rules).

The very first book of instruction by the Twelve Apostles of Jesus (known as the Didache) said that abortion, infanticide, and homosexuality are wrong. This document dates to about 70AD to 85AD and predates some of the Gospels.

Let us pray that there will be many more Catholic billionaires who will be attacked for behaving like Monaghan.

If that doesn't take the cake for impudence . . .

What is a Lipstick Lesbian?

The terms "Lipstick Lesbian" and "femme" can be used interchangeably. However, most properly, a "Lipstick Lesbian" is a feminine woman who loves other feminine women, and a "femme" is a feminine woman who loves masculine women.

They will probably be attaking him more in the future. He just started Ave Maria Law School, with individuals like Robert Bork associated with it (I think Judge Bork is a trustee, but I could be wrong). Clarence Thomas has spoke at fundraisers for it. Monaghan started this school because he felt that the University of Detroit (Catholic university) School of Law was not preparing attorneys with a proper Catholic perspective towards their work.

As liberal as the ABA is, I would reckon that ABA accreditation will be a long, tough process for them.

A brilliant turn of phrase, if you don't mind me saying so. So good, it's copyrightable.

They must be right. If there's one thing these homosexual activists are experts on it's perversion.

While the Triangle group does make ridiculous and outlandish charges, I take issue with the notion that "Breaking the Code" is a show that glorifies homosexuals. I saw it on Broadway starring Derek Jacobi. He was spectacular in the role of Alan Turing, and it was an excellent play with his homosexuality noted, but not glorified by any means. I see no reason why teen-agers shouldn't see the show. They might even learn there was a War once before the present one.

Would someone please tell me what is ambiguous about this section of the Catholic Catechism?

Which is the guide book for ALL Catholics, being the word of the Pontiff.

The Ten Commandments-Commandment Six

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

III. THE LOVE OF HUSBAND AND WIFE

2360 Sexuality is ordered to the conjugal love of man and woman. In marriage the physical intimacy of the spouses becomes a sign and pledge of spiritual communion. Marriage bonds between baptized persons are sanctified by the sacrament.

2361 "Sexuality, by means of which man and woman give themselves to one another through the acts which are proper and exclusive to spouses.
