Maybe she is right about the quality of the dog, but it’s hard to claim that it was dangerous when it was still a puppy.

If it was ever in the proximity of children, it was likely dangerous. A friend rescued a pit, years ago. It was a pup. At six months or so, it would try to take on my dog, that was a few years old. Junior would start to stare at him, pick an opening, and go for his throat. He’d be intercepted and instantly body-slammed., with my fog standing over him. That would end it. For 15 minutes. Then Junior would start again, like it never happened. Bad dog.

The dog was 14 months. That is not a puppy.

Dogs are considered adults when over one year old.

Not a puppy. At 14 months old most dogs have 95% to 100% of their growth.
