Thy are simply afraid of being voted out next time around. Seems this is not ‘for the best interest of the community’ but rather more self centered.

East Hanover was one of about a dozen NJ towns to sue the governor last year over the state’s outrageous “affordable housing” mandate. If my information is correct, the state is forcing the town to build so many new housing units that they have to add new police protection, at least one school, etc.

They can see themselves turning into a ghetto if they don’t fix this problem … and it’s all tied to Democratic governance at the state level.
