What’s the reasonable cause to stop and search the vehicle? None other than harassing them. Probably a lawsuit would be in order to stop the practice and also embarrass the mayor and governor who put them up to doing it
You’re correct…..this is nothing but petty police state tyranny. Harass those doing what you don’t like in order to find a crime.
DOT cops don’t need any reasonable cause to pull over and inspect a commercial vehicle.
I drive a commercial vehicle at times for my job. I recently had a DOT proctological exam at a weight station. I had a minor infraction that he let slide. Couple have nailed me for thousands of dollars.
