Kerry's traitors: Takes money from 'Benedict Arnolds'

SEN. JOHN KERRY has a term for companies that move overseas to avoid high U.S. taxes: Benedict Arnolds. So, if he thinks so little of them, why is he taking their money?

The Washington Post reported last week that “employees and executives at such companies have contributed more than $140,000 to Kerry’s presidential campaign.” Furthermore, two of Kerry’s top fund-raisers, who have raised a combined $400,000 for his campaign, “are top executives at investment firms that helped set up companies in the world’s best-known offshore tax havens.”

Yet again, Kerry claims to stand for one thing, but does another.

Calling these companies “Benedict Arnolds” is slanderous. They aren’t selling national security secrets or fighting to defeat our country. They are legally trying to reduce their tax bills. We think they ought to stay here and work to lower U.S. tax rates rather than move their headquarters overseas. But their behavior is hardly treasonous. Maybe if Congress had fewer tax-hiking politicians like John Kerry, who make it harder to do business in America, these companies wouldn’t move in the first place.

Benedict Arnold served admirably for years in the Continental army. It was only later that he turned to the Dark Side. Sort of reminds me of, oh, I don't know, maybe....John Kerry!

True. Calling them "American" companies however, is a falsehood. A company that removes its operations overseas and eliminates jobs for us - Americans - is no longer an American company and should be treated as a foreign corporation by the government.

But then, I'd also consider Kerry a "foreign corporation".

Senator Kerry is confused about why these companies don't just get the tax assessors to value their properties at half of what the properties are really worth, like Kerry does with his properties. ;-)

Kerry is completely mentally compromised and conflicted....to live with having deceived so many and betrayed so many of those he calls 'his brother' in his lifetime
he must either not have a conscience (sociopath) or he is about to break down...

IMO Kerry is a serious head case...with money & power....

See, this is a big part of the problem with "journalism" in America these days. One hack writes an article, then other hacks cite that article as if it's unvarnished, indisputable truth.

From what I can find, this particular issue is a non-starter...the connection between the Kerry donor and the off-shore corporation is tenuous at best. And Kerry isn't anywhere near the top of donations received from "special interests. Daschle, for one, far outpaces him on that count, along with numberous other Democratic and Republican senators..

I think that it'd be far more fruitful to attack the man on his record - he's a liberal, no doubt about it. If the GOP can't clearly delineate George Bush from John Kerry, when the task is so damned easy, they don't deserve to win.
