<title>Student Wearing Pro-War T-Shirts Told to Take off While Anti-War Shirts are OK, Edison, NJ</title>
<link>https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1007667/posts</link>
<description>&#x26;#x3C;p&#x26;#x3E;Shaun Chichester says he was just expressing his outrage when he wore a &#x26;#x22;Whaq Iraq&#x26;#x22; T-shirt to J.P. Stevens High School in Edison last spring.&#x26;#x3C;/p&#x26;#x3E;

&#x26;#x3C;p&#x26;#x3E;But when school officials asked him to remove the shirt, he really got mad.&#x26;#x3C;/p&#x26;#x3E;

&#x26;#x3C;p&#x26;#x3E;Chichester, then a sophomore, removed the shirt without incident but vowed to change the school district&#x26;#x27;s dress code, saying it violated his First Amendment rights to free speech. He petitioned school authorities shortly after the March 21 incident, asking them to adopt rules &#x26;#x22;reflecting students&#x26;#x27; free speech rights.&#x26;#x22;&#x26;#x3C;/p&#x26;#x3E;
