Call it Caliphate, UN style. Freedom and individual rights will be nothing but archaic words when a high-handed United Nations gets to deliver its upcoming, etched-in-concrete 2015 Global Social and Environmental Agenda, effectively imprisoning humanity for the next 15 years and beyond. The rope around society’s neck will tighten to chokehold point, and that’s the full intent of media mogul Ted Turner’s long-running The United Nations Foundation. As long as the aims of The United Nations Foundation remained in the murky abstract, its chief pooh-bahs could always fend off resisters by smearing them as conspiracy nuts imagining black helicopters hovering...

For 17 years, Juan Reinaldo Sanchez served as bodyguard to Fidel Castro. But when he became disillusioned with the Cuban dictator’s hypocrisy and tried to retire in 1994, Castro had him thrown in prison. Sanchez made 10 attempts to escape the island, finally making it to the US in 2008. Now he reveals all in his new book, “The Double Life of Fidel Castro.” In this excerpt, Sanchez exposes “El Jefe’s” privileged life. To Cubans, Fidel Castro presents himself as a man of the people, claiming to make only 900 pesos a month (about $38) and owning no property other...

Apparently only communists were invited After 17 years as a personal bodyguard of Fidel Castro, Juan Rienaldo Sanchez recently claimed in a new book that the Cuban dictator was a major trafficker of illegal drugs into the US for years- and profited handsomely from it. Sound plenty believable to me, North Korea exports meth for hard currency- and El Jefe was close with Columbia's coke-producing communist rebels/terrorists FARC. Other interesting revelations would be that Fidel kept his immediate family a secret -had more kids out of wedlock- and was kind of a lazy slob that 'always slept until 10 or...

With the general election a happy – very happy! – memory, now comes time to elect the third-ranking constitutional office: the Texas House Speaker. Lobbyists and lawmakers are accustomed to citizens checking out as the governing begins; in truth, citizens must be more engaged than ever. STRAUS AGENDA: STOP CONSERVATIVES House Speaker Joe Straus and his leadership team have made it abundantly clear that killing conservative reforms tops their agenda. Spending limitations, tax reform, education reforms, pro-life legislation… are all viewed with disdain by the Straus leadership team. We know that because they have blocked those measures for two sessions...

Turner Broadcasting, the parent company of CNN, will cut its total workforce by about 10% in the coming weeks through a mix of buyouts, layoffs and other measures, the company said Monday. The reductions are part of a broader effort to save money and refocus investment, known internally as Turner 2020. The company said about 1,475 positions — out of 14,000 full-time positions worldwide — would be eliminated in the coming weeks. Within CNN Worldwide, where the workforce totals roughly 3,500, about 300 positions will be cut, according to a person with direct knowledge of the plan, totaling 8.5%.

(CNN) - What will matter most about Ted Turner's life story when they roll the final credits? That he started the first 24-hour news network? Built a fortune once worth $10 billion? Was Time magazine's "Man of the Year"? Received a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame? Made The New York Times best-seller list? Maybe it was that time he raced a sailboat faster than anyone else. Or the year his baseball team won the World Series. Impressed yet? Did you know he had a president for a fishing buddy and won the heart of a movie star? Turner turns...

A Dallas ISD student who beat up a Spruce High School teacher in December pleaded guilty to assault and has completed his 204-day jail sentence. Delvron Turner, 18, pleaded guilty on April 3 to assaulting Dallas ISD teacher Bryan Porzio. Turner and Porzio got into altercation in a Spruce hallway in December, when Turner grabbed him by the neck and slammed him into a wall. The incident divided DISD Superintendent Mike Miles, two trustees and several southern Dallas pastors, who believed the teacher provoked Turner. Delvron Turner pleaded guilty to assaulting teacher Bryan Porzio. Turner was arrested on a felony...

Even as the White House strove last week to move beyond questions about the Benghazi attacks of Tuesday, September 11, 2012, fresh evidence emerged that senior Obama administration officials knowingly misled the country about what had happened in the days following the assaults. The Weekly Standard has obtained a timeline briefed by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence detailing the heavy substantive revisions made to the CIA’s talking points, just six weeks before the 2012 presidential election, and additional information about why the changes were made and by whom. As intelligence officials pieced together the puzzle of events...

Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes had a hit song still often heard on the radio called, “If You Don’t Know Me Now.” Instead of playing Hail to the Chief, I think from now on that song should be played immediately before Obama comes to the podium with his odium. Opportunities dwindle daily with respect to reversing his assault on our laws and nobody seeks Constitutional remedies, especially with Congress nearly evenly divided between compliant Democrats and amby-pamby Republicans. Why? Under Obama there is now a similar paramilitary force in possession of MORE ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION THAN THE US MILITARY,...

What Gerard Depardieu is to France, Tina Turner may be to the United States. The "Private Dancer" singer is giving up her US passport, in favor of a Swiss one. "I'm very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here. ... I cannot imagine a better place to live," Turner told the German newspaper Blick. Turner has lived in the Zurich suburb of Kuesnacht since the mid-1990s. The local Zuerichsee-Zeitung newspaper said on its website the local council announced its decision to grant the 73-year-old Turner citizenship in an official notice published in Friday's edition. The decision still requires...

“Fidel Castro could have been Cuba’s Elvis!” (Dan Rather.) “Fidel Castro is one hell of a guy! “You people would like him!” (Ted Turner to a capacity crowd at Harvard Law School during a speech in 1997.) “Fidel Castro is old-fashioned, courtly—even paternal, a thoroughly fascinating figure!” (Andrea Mitchell.) “Castro has brought very high literacy and great health-care to his country. His personal magnetism is powerful, his presence is commanding.” (Barbara Walters.) “Viva Fidel! Viva Che!” (Jesse Jackson while arm in arm with Fidel Castro himself in 1984.) "Fidel Castro is very shy and sensitive, I frankly like him and...

East Shore Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, right, joins Wendy Long at last night's victory party in Manhattan. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Attorney Wendy Long rolled to victory in the state Republican U.S. Senate primary last night, and will face U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) in the Nov. 6 general election. But Rep. Bob Turner looked to be the winner on Staten Island. With 96 percent of the statewide vote counted, according to The Associated Press, Ms. Long had 69,168 votes, good for 51 percent. Turner had 48,429 votes, or 36 percent, while Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos had 18,307 votes,...

When Frank Faryab bought an obscure oil painting for thousands of pounds in a private sale, it was just the start of his outlay on the work. For the art and antiques dealer has since spent more than £2million and much of the past five years trying to convince others it was by JMW Turner, one of Britain's greatest painters. The perseverance appears to have paid off - because three leading authorities on the artist work now agree it is a lost Turner masterpiece which could be worth about £4million. Experts at the auction house Sotheby's will examine the painting...

A Minnesota man tried to kill a fetus by stomping on his pregnant girlfriend's stomach, police said. Kenneth L. Turner, 28, of Fridley, kicked, punched and choked his on-again, off-again girlfriend at her apartment during a three-hour attack early Friday, at one point ordering her to lie on her back before stomping on her stomach with both feet, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

ALBANY – Rep. Bob Turner made his run for the US Senate official today. He said he’ll seek both the Republican and Conservative nominations to challenge US Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY). But State Conservative Party Chairman Michael Long said lawyer Wendy Long – who’s also seeking the GOP nod – “has really soaked up enthusiastically the support of my leaders up and down. “I don’t see this thing turning around,” he added. “I think Bob got into this too late.” Turner had planned to seek re-election to the Queens-Brooklyn seat of disgraced former Rep. Anthony Wiener, which he won in...

Being endorsed by scary, hateful, self-marginalizing extremists isn’t necessarily the kiss of death in American politics. After presidential candidate Ronald Reagan was endorsed by a Louisiana chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in 1980 –an endorsement he quite correctly and forcefully rejected— he prospered and went on to evict Democratic incumbent Jimmy Carter from the White House. But it’s different when the endorsee shares the core tenets of the fringe-dwelling endorsers. It really shouldn’t be altogether surprising that Occupy Wall Street is now endorsed by both the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and the American Nazi Party. After all, the rhetoric...

Democrats poured $1.5 million into their failed attempt to retain the Congressional seat last held by Anthony D. Weiner, vastly outspending the Republican candidate, Bob Turner, who ultimately prevailed in New York’s Ninth District. The Democratic candidate, Assemblyman David I. Weprin, spent $859,000 on the race, according to a campaign finance filing on Thursday. National groups chipped in more than $675,000, mostly to pay for television advertising in an effort to salvage Mr. Weprin’s flagging campaign in the final days before the Sept. 13 special election. That amounted to more than double the spending by Mr. Turner, a retired cable...
