Something I did not know and I suspect many do not know, but it is NOT the National Guard at the Southern border but the state of Texas's own military! Texas has a military branch not connected with the Federal Government.

On Wednesday, Representative Joaquin Castro (D-TX) called on President Biden to "seize" the Texas National Guard by calling them into Federal service, removing them from the command and control of the State of Texas. This is presumably in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott's defiant tone towards the Biden Administration on closing the border. A Texas congressman has urged President Biden to take the state's National Guard under federal control if Republican Governor Greg Abbott defies a Supreme Court ruling allowing federal agents to remove razor wire from a section of the U.S.-Mexico border. The call was made by Democratic...

WHO ARE THOSE GUYS? Most folks are familiar with the Texas Army and Air National Guard units. President Bush is a former member of the Texas Air National Guard and flew many hours as a fighter pilot. However, when you mention the "Texas State Guard" (TXSG) folks scratch their heads and say, "I haven't heard of that outfit. Well they're out there, over 2000 strong, all volunteers who serve without pay, and provide their own uniforms, equipment and weapons. They are commanded by a tough old two-star general by the name of Richard A. Box from his headquarters at Camp...
