The NFL is considering moving the game to Monday or Tuesday in case of bad weather. Well slather me in butter and call me a biscuit. Didn't they KNOW the possibility of bad winter weather would increase during WINTER? Personally, they need to play the game in whatever Mother Nature throws at it. They wanted this up there, they got it. Now deal with it. Your opinion may differ.

Editor's Note: This column was co-authored by Jerome Elam. On February 2 of this year, thousands will gather at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., to watch the Seattle Seahawks battle the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. As the athletes take the field and the fans cheer, they will be oblivious to the tragedy unfolding around them in dark hotel rooms across East Rutherford. Sex trafficking has become a stealth parasite that attaches itself to major sporting events, taking advantage of a large number of fans and the demand for illicit sex. Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott echoed...

(LETTERS ARE AT THE LINK) This story just keeps getting better. On Tuesday we shared a letter a young deaf fan wrote to Seahawks FB Derrick Coleman, who is also deaf. This all comes after the inspiring ad about Coleman's life that went viral last week. Coleman wrote a letter back to the deaf fan and her twin sister and shared it Wednesday on Twitter. Is it great? Yup:

Nathaniel Wentz is a 17-year-old kid who plays quarterback for his high school football team. He also works — well, he used to work — during his free time. Why did we say he used to work? Because he was fired from his gig at Odyssey 1 family entertainment center in Tacoma, Washington after he wore a Broncos jersey to work last Sunday. Why was he wearing a Broncos jersey? Because his boss told employees that they could wear jerseys of their favorite teams to work since it was the day of the AFC and NFC Championship Games. Wentz's manager...

David Shaw knows the other side of Richard Sherman Posted by Darin Gantt on January 21, 2014, 8:40 AM EST Richard Sherman AP Stanford coach David Shaw has seen both sides of Richard Sherman. And when something has two sides, there has to be an edge that separates them. That edge, Shaw said, it what makes the Seahawks cornerback so special on the field. “Bill Walsh said you want guys with high character who are great players and great people,” Shaw said, via Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News. “But every once in a while, you have to...
  • Farmers Almanac Predicts "Piercing," "Bitterly", "Biting" Cold Weather For Super Bowl Game

Looks like Winter is going to do what it does best, act like winter. With Super Bowl XLVIII being played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey’s Meadowlands. Being a Viking fan, I will enjoy the game in the comfort of my living room. However, for the elite that will be at the game while listening to an opera singer during half time, it could be a bit miserable. Any predictions as to who will come out on top? You would think that the weather will favor Denver, but Payton has never done very well in cold weather. So if...

Luxury Super Bowl seat prices hit the $1 million mark Monday — with frigid weather expected to fuel hot demand for indoor seats at MetLife Stadium. An optimistic seller listed an amenity-heavy, climate-controlled suite for the Feb. 2 Seattle-Denver showdown at $1,019,000 on the secondary ticket market, and plenty of other sellers came in above the $500,000 mark. Many of the asking prices for Super Bowl XLVIII suites are double those of prior Super Bowls, which commanded $100,000 to $500,0000, market watchers said.

Is Seahawks coach Pete Carroll a 9/11 truther? That all depends: Does badgering a former four-star general about whether 9/11 was real make one a truther? Here's what happened, according to a couple sources: Late last spring, retired general Peter Chiarelli, who had just finished his term as the Army's vice chief of staff, visited Carroll at the Seattle Seahawks headquarters. Chiarelli was expecting a pleasant meeting. After all, the pair had what important businesspeople tend to call synergies: Chiarelli—who grew up in Seattle—is a big Seahawks fan. His post-military work concerns traumatic brain injury research, a cause of some...

**SNIP** Demand for prostitutes surges ahead of the Super Bowl and officials warn trafficking gangs are likely to cash in on the influx of football fans, forcing people they have often bought into the country illegally to work in the sex trade. New Jersey's ports, freeways and major airports make it a "destination state for human trafficking," said Melanie Gorelick of the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking. "They are preparing to have as many arrests as possible during the Super Bowl and to make it as difficult as possible for traffickers to bring women and labor to the area."

NFL officials are ready for all contingencies related to Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium. Even if it means staging the game on a different day. Possibly even a different week. Although every Giants and Jets game has been played as scheduled at MetLife Stadium and Giants Stadium -- going all the way back to 1976 for the Giants, to 1984 for the Jets -- officials have plans in place for a weather event that could change the day of the game from its scheduled Feb. 2 date.
