  • Regulate Social Media Like Public Utilities

Democracy took a big blow when Twitter shut down President Donald Trump's accounts and Google and Amazon ousted Parler, a site favored by millions of conservatives. Big Tech, which is run by the left, is robbing Americans of their right to communicate freely and exchange ideas. The nation's founders worried that the government would use its power to censure and crush competing viewpoints. Their remedy was the First Amendment, guaranteeing all of us freedom of speech and association and barring government censorship. They had no way of anticipating that tech companies would grow more powerful than governments and have the...

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says that the social media company has “no plans” to lift its ban on President Donald Trump. “[We have] no plans to lift it right now,” said Sandberg in an interview with NBC News. “At least through the transition we’ve been very clear,” she added. “There’s obviously so much happening, and this is such a big step. We will definitely let people know and be very transparent about any changes to that.”
  • America Ruled By Fraud - Day 6

America Ruled by Fraud - Day 6 As proofs of massive, ubiquitous, systemic election fraud continue to mount, following the absurdity of Congress pretending to legitimacy in a sham process, wrongly pretending an inability to act rightly, Congress truly refusing to do anything other than accept the known to be fraudulent products of obviously fraudulent elections, leaves the country, and the world, holding its breath. The most obvious evidence, of course... is the most obvious... yet never mentioned. Free and fair elections, to exist, require we have freedom of the press, and freedom of speech. Today, we have neither. The...

I'm just checking in. I already have a MeWe account as an alternative to Facebook, which I plan to leave on Jan. 20. Unfortunately, MeWe, just like Parler used to be, is on Amazon servers, so another Facebook-like app would be appropriate as an alternative. MeWe seems safe for now, but you never know when the temperamental Wokey McWokersons of Amazon will determine that MeWe offends them and remove them from the servers. So, I just wanted to know if anybody else is on there and what their experience has been like. Thanks in advance.
  • Twitter condemns Uganda for blocking social media apps and censoring internet before key election

Twitter is openly condemning internet service providers blocking social media apps in the run-up to an election in Uganda as it takes criticism for alleged censorship on its own platform.

In the first week of January, Telegram surpassed 500 million monthly active users. After that it kept growing: 25 million new users joined Telegram in the last 72 hours alone. These new users came from across the globe – 38% from Asia, 27% from Europe, 21% from Latin America and 8% from MENA. This is a significant increase compared to last year, when 1.5M new users signed up every day. We've had surges of downloads before, throughout our 7-year history of protecting user privacy. But this time is different. People no longer want to exchange their privacy for free services....
  • Twitter Banned 70,000 People Sharing ‘QAnon Content’ Following Capitol Protest, Even If They Weren’t There and Had NOTHING to Do with the Violence

Twitter said in a statement that the mass censorship is “to protect the conversation on our service from attempts to incite violence, organize attacks, and share deliberately misleading information about the election outcome.” “We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm. Given the violent events in Washington, DC, and increased risk of harm, we began permanently suspending thousands of accounts that were primarily dedicated to sharing QAnon content on Friday afternoon,” the blog post stated.

In the aftermath of Wednesday’s Capitol riot, Big Tech went nuclear. Most prominently, Facebook and Twitter suspended President Trump’s accounts on their platforms: Facebook’s suspension will last though the president’s remaining time in office, while Twitter’s ban is permanent. Trump was not the only prominent conservative figure suspended: former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and his lawyer Sidney Powell were also banned from Twitter. Naturally, focus shifted to Parler, the most prominent of the “free-speech” alternatives to Facebook and Twitter. After President Trump’s suspensions, traffic to the site soared; consequently, left-wing activists demanded that Google and Apple pull Parler from...

They tried, and it looks like they may have failed. Social media company Parler, which has been under attack from the far-left for not censoring conservatives, seems to have found a new home after Amazon Web Services decided to stop hosting the company’s site. The Washington Examiner reported:On Monday, Parler registered its domain and server to be hosted by Epik, an internet webhosting company known for working with right-leaning websites. Gab, another social media platform popular with conservatives, also uses Epik. A web domain search shows that Parler is now registered with Epik.Last week, a group of Big Tech companies colluded...

He wants to cancel cancel culture. “Mr. Bean” and “Johnny English” actor Rowan Atkinson is the latest comedian to take a swipe at cancel culture, equating social justice warriors to a “medieval mob.” The comic dropped the bombshell in a lengthy interview with the UK’s Radio Times. “It’s important that we’re exposed to a wide spectrum of opinion, but what we have now is the digital equivalent of the medieval mob, roaming the streets looking for someone to burn,” the “Blackadder” series creator lamented. “So it is scary for anyone who’s a victim of that mob, and it fills me...

Gab CEO Andrew Torba revealed that the free speech social media platform had received the truly massive amount of signups. Gab Chief Technology Officer Fosco Marotto also spoke of the astronomical growth, revealing the platform had deployed 10 new servers to accommodate the massive influx of users. All of Gab’s server infrastructure is hosted in-house, hardening the platform from deplatforming attempts on the part of Big Tech’s corrupt oligarchs. Parler, a competing platform, was swiftly deplatformed by Amazon oligarch Jeff Bezos Sunday. Parler had opted to rely on Amazon’s web hosting services, a platform liability leaving them powerless against Big...

Why can a baker be forced to make a cake for something he disagrees with but a social media platform may pick and choose? Is it possible to sue some of these providers under the same laws that bakers are forced to serve those they disagree with. Make no mistake, the bakery cases are not merely about baking a cake. The reports never tell us what the customer wanted on those cakes or what shape they may have been to cause the objection but you may be certain it wasn't a simple, plain cake. IF a baker may be forced...

Twitter’s stock price tumbled early Monday as investors appeared to balk at the social network’s decision to ban President Trump from posting. Shares in the San Francisco-based company tumbled 7.5 percent to $47.60 as of 8:07 a.m. in the first premarket trading session after it booted Trump from the platform on Friday, saying his account posed a “risk of further incitement of violence” after his supporters stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday. Twitter’s move against the outgoing president — whose account had more than 88 million followers — was the first permanent suspension for a head of state, and it’s...

On Friday, Twitter joined a slew of other social media companies in permanently suspending Donald Trump’s accounts. Subsequently, many other conservative users found themselves deplatformed by the tech giant. The tech oligarchs’ argument is that Trump’s social media presence incites violence, as evidenced by the riot in the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.Twitter argued that several of Trump’s tweets violated its Glorification of Violence policy, which states, “You may not threaten violence against an individual or a group of people. We also prohibit the glorification of violence.”Unsurprisingly, there are countless Twitter accounts that regularly call for harm or violence, in violation...

We appear to be at the beginning of a massive crackdown on people who have supported Donald Trump, led by big tech and big media. These entities are making Trump into an example of their power to frighten the half of America that supported him in November. We cannot allow them to intimidate us. But they sure are trying, and on some, they will succeed. They are using the excuse of an unrepresentative group of fools criminally ransacking U.S. Capitol offices with a lighter touch than many of this summer’s often unpunished Black Lives Matter and Antifa rioters. Remember: Some...

It only took four-plus years of incendiary tweets, racist statements and violent threats, but on January 8, Twitter finally decided to permanently ban the US president's account with just days left of his term – and with it, his primary platform for speaking to his devotees. In addition, Google, Amazon and Apple have cracked down on Parler, a possible plan B social media platform for the president and his followers. Reddit, Discord, Shopify, TikTok and Snapchat have also imposed restrictions. Jennifer Palmieri, a political adviser for the Obama administration, remarked dryly on Twitter: “It has not escaped my attention that...
